I have been cranking away on these projects. Tore down a few engines I have and started to get everything cleaned up for reassembly. I am doing the oil vent mod and also going to Hoserize the oil galleys for the bearings. New bearings, seals, and starters for both.

I also decided to vinyl wrap the side panels like site member MGurgone40 has done. Using a marine grade vinyl and got it to color match the gold parts. Hood is vinyl wrapped gloss black w/ red #'s. Rubber trim around panels.

Hoping to get the cases put back together this week or next. Going to use Randman's assembly procedure.

I got the bottom ends put back together for the most part. I decided to go through the pull starts also and repaint the 2 covers. I should have that back together tonight and hoping to install the cylinders and heads this week. One Engine will be set up for oem air cooled while and the other will have a water cooled cylinder, Rand's head, radiator, and pump.

After that, I am going to be turning my attention to the clutches and the carburetors. I will be using a new Keihin 35mm air striker carb on the air cooled Engine and a used Mikuni 39mm flat slide on the water cooled. I also have the Comet 94c for the air cooled Engine and a Comet 102C for the water cooled. I will most likely need some help for this part because I know nothing about clutches and only enough about carbs to be dangerous. I can open up the carbs to check the jet sizes as a start for them. What do I need to check on the clutches? Any common components I should check for wear? I know the 102C can be tuned so what do I need to check on that one? Any info/insite would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it is the one you posted back in September.

I am also going to be using the Can Am Outlander rear diff bellow as you suggested. I will absolutely report back and let you know how it works out.

I made a little more progress on my engines this weekend. Got the cylinder and heads installed. The air cooled Engine was bored to 81.5mm with wiseco piston. The other was sent to site member Methodical for a water jacket, porting, and custom piston work. That one is at 80mm. If your not familiar with methodical's work, you should be. Top notch and many thanks! Using a Rand's head on top. Still needs some finishing touches. I need to pick up some fittings for the cylinder this week, install the reed cage, and intake. Then I'll be doing a leak down test and time for install.

Hey guys,
I don't want anyone to think I'm slacking off this close to finishing up my projects but they have been put on the back burner for a little bit. On Saturday morning my wife and I were blessed with our first child, a little girl, Emery Jane. Any other parent knows that words cannot express the feeling.

I will continue this project thread when I get back into the swing of things.

I'm way past that stage and I now have my daughter living with me so I get to through it all over again with 4 and 5 year old Grandsons!

I'm sure that she will have me wrapped around her finger soon enough and I'm looking forward to it. It can't be half bad to have the grand kids close by. I have a nephew that just turned 5 today and it is a fun age. He hangs with me and helps me work on my "race cars". Mostly me trying to keep track of everything he touches/moves. No one says a daughter can't do the same. I have a lot to look forward to including getting her on an oddy! :-)

My youngest daughter who lives with me is my motorhead! When she was young she used to come out to the garage and work on my VW stuff with me. She is still the one who puts stuff together like bunk beds and toys for her boys just like dear old dad used to for her!

Cherish them..... they grow up quick!

This is Methodical's original liquid cooled cylinder.

I believe that mine is the same with the exception of the custom head. I am using a Rand's Head on mine with a hose to transfer the coolant between the cylinder and head. Here are some photos of the port work and piston work that I took before assembly. One of my favorite things methodical did to the cylinder was stamped my name in it. :-)

Got my intakes and exhaust manifold installed. Using a billet intake manifold with the VForce3 reed cage and a torque spacer on both. Hoping to drop these in this week.

I have been working on my projects now and then and have made some progress. I got the rear ends completed and everything torqued to spec. I got my shock savers completed for both projects. I used the same style that CO uses on his FL350s. Relatively simple design but effective. A friend of mine vinyl wrapped my hoods for me and put #'s on them. Very happy with they way they came out! :-) I got both engines installed on Saturday.

I am still having an issue with the reserve on one of my gas tanks and but will run it for now until my new replacement is completed. On the liquid cooled setup, I am changing the spring on the secondary clutch to the red spring Methodical had had good luck with. I am going to open up the carburetors that I have to check the jet sizes so I will have a starting point reference. One is a Keihin PWK 35mm and the other is a Mikuni 39mm pro series. I will be working to get the brakes bleed, electrical completed, exhausts installed, carbs/filters installed, fuel lines / coolant lines installed, and other miscellaneous.
