Post subject:  Triple E - Need Help!

Hey guys - I picked this up today and am super excited to see it running again...I lived down the street from the Triple E factory as a kid and used to go to the shop and just stare at the cars...

Anyway - can someone please help to advise what motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) and dif went in this car based on what you see in the photos? Unfortunately it has no motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )), and the guy didnt know much...just that is was a 2cyl 2 stroke...Guessing a 440 and a odyssey rear end, but could use some help and guidance. If anyone is in San Diego and has a similar car - I'd appreciate being able to look at what you have!

See pics...Thanks!

This is the info I got on the triple EEE:

Gen 1 and 2 had the same frame but gen 1 had 250 built Engine and 250 trans. The gen 2 had fl350 Engine and coleman trans. Gen 3 had dual a-arms up front with chenowoth trans gen 4 was a little longer and had a-arms all the way around chenowoth trans and either a pilot Engine or fl350 big bore.
Easiest way to identify the first two makes is both have single A arm setups. Gen1 FL250 Engine. Gen 2 Fl350 engines. Gen 3 and 4 had dual arms front and rear. The third gen had the rear shocks mounted inside of the rear body panels. Gen 4 has the rear shocks mounted outside of the body panels. Engines varied as the first one I am going through originally had a 350 but was swapped to a 400 by someone??? From the info I have found the gen 3 were wider in the cockpit and had more wheel travel.(desert racing) Also the CV is mounted outboard of the rear wheels. The frames are similar, gen 3 also had the front A arm mounts farther in than the Gen4. The rack is shorter to make up for the difference. The Gen 4 cars were primarily for stadium racing. Rusty said the trans was a Chenowth but I have been told that is incorrect. I have a picture somewhere of the trans with the manufacturers name on it. Supposedly it was from some type of farm equipment and modified for the cars. I found a 3 year old post on minibuggy where a guy was selling some extras (transmissions and parts) he had. All he had was parts after all that time. I purchased the reverse gears I needed from him. He had a complete trans that was modified with a vw rabbit diff. I tried to buy the trans from him but he would only sell it if I bought the car it was bolted into. The cars were built by Triple EEE out of Romana Ca. A friend of mine on Facebook is friends with the son who used to race the cars his dad built. I haven't spoke to him or his father about the cars. They have progressed up the ranks as they were into dwarf cars and now I believe run modifieds or some version of that type of car/racing.

EDIT: by the way I got this info from this thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16200&hilit=ok+who+is+selling+the+trip+E

By the way that is a very very nice car. Nice score.
Use the search box above and type in triple EEE and see what hits you get.
Please keep us posted on this thing and don't be cheap with any pics.
Wow 2008 and only 18 posts

Looking at that frame and back end I would say that's a Gen 1 car.
I would be making molds of those body panels if it was mine.
Are they fiberglass, plastic or aluminum ??

Per what you've added in your 1st post - i'd say its a gen 3...a-arms front and rear - and shocks are inside the body in the rear.

Panels are all aluminum...

Does anyone with a gen 3 car have pics of their setup? I really hope its setup for a odyssey 350 or pilot trans - would be much easier to find parts!

Thank you for all the info!

Re-read your 1st post...DUAL a-arms up front...I read that as a-arms in front and back. Yes, gen 1 or 2 then...

Did anyone have a FL350 trans and a 2 cyl motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) ?

Did you find that car in Bakersfield? It looks like one I have pics of somewhere. The guy was wanting big $$$ for it a year or two back. Coleman trans is what most of the first two gens ran. Saw both fl250 and 350 motors in them. Some also came with a 440. It’s a clean car and appears to not have been beat to death like most. When I talked to the guy he said it never had a motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) or trans installed in it.

File comment: Gen 4 car. Note rear shocks are outside of the side panels. There are other differences between the 3rd and 4th. This is the easiest way to tell.

File comment: Gen 3 car. More of a desert car than a stadium car. Built like a tank, wider longer. Same transmission as the 4th gen. Notorious for leaking.

The only difference I can see in those two cars is that the rear shocks are mounted at different angles and the side panel just above the side scoop is taller than the other one.

No, it's not that blue one you have pictured...I talked to that guy actually though, it's still for sale for 2500 and he has some FL350 parts to go along with it.

I ended up buying another triple e out of Vegas as it had the comet gearbox in it...Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the fact that the axles on my blue one seater have the u joint style connection on the ends, that's a sign its for a comet gearbox. Also - were any of the gen 1 cars set up for snow mobile Engine? I have a feeling this was a car built special in the early to late 90's?

Here's some pics of the 2 seater i picked up for 1200...Yamaha exciter electric start...Needs a lot of work, but it's all there. I think I'm going to make it a one seater, whereas before my plan was to take the parts off of this one and put it in the one seater.
