After about roughly 15 years I now have an Fl350 again. I started searching off and on for the past couple years looking for one and after passing up a few decent ones that were gonna need some tlc I found this one about 4 hours away. So I decided to drop the hammer on it. It's a 1 owner low hour machine that has sat in his garage for Most of it's life. I've been tinkering on it these past few months to get it updated and reliable. It doesn't need much but after scouring the site i found plenty of things to upgrade. I've already installed a trail tech, rebuilt the fuel pump and checked the flow. I plan on taking the Engine out this winter and freshing it up with some new rings seals and gaskets and doing a leakdown. I've purchased a new harness and materials to build a shock saver, I just haven't gotten to those yet. It's been busy around the farm here lately.

Not sure why the first and last photos are black, I'll try to repost them.

That is one good looking FL350, nice score!

I was thinking about adding a trail tech on my FL350. How do you like it and how hard was the install? It looks like you have the Vapor model installed. Did you get the speedometer to work also?

Last question, what are you using the extra switch on the steering wheel for?

I really like the vapor, as far as how easy it was to install it wasn't bad but since these are not made to fit this machine I had to add on length to all the sensor wires except the speedo cable. I ended up using a front wheel for the sensor, the temp and rpm were easy to hook up. And the speedo seems to be within 1 mph of my GPS so I'd say it's pretty accurate. The main reason for me getting it was to keep an eye on cylinder head temp. We go to the little Sahara often and things can warm up out there. Oh and the switch was for the oddy cool fan. I guess i had forgot to mention that. Here is a picture of my front wheel sensor mount, I just epoxied the magnet to the rim. We will see how she holds up. If you run in alot of mud this may not be the route to choose.

Very nice and thank you for the info. I think that I will pick up the Trail Tech Vapor as well. Like you said, I really just want to keep an eye on the head temp. I feel the the RPM will be helpful when tuning a clutch and it's nice to know about how fast you are going. To bad it doesn't have exhaust temp. Where did you find the red switch that fits perfect in the steering wheel cover? I also have a Oddycool fan that I need to wire in.

Looking good so far and your on the right track for sure. Welcome to the Oddy community by the way!

Hey thanks! The switch was just a normal light up rocker, I modified the ends with a razor blade so it would somewhat pop into the plastic housing. It doesn't lock in as solid as I'd like it to but so far it's been working. I wish you could still buy the original switch that fits it.

Jesus Christ another show room quality oddy.
Has the original front bumper rubber caps on the ends of the tube.
Stickers on frame not rubbed off by climbing in and out.
Wrist restraint metal D rings not rusted -- so it never sat outside.
Original seat belts in very good condition -- not sun faded or rusted up adjusters.
Throttle lever not polished and worn where your thumb presses.
Fenders not drooping because sitting in desert sun.
Looks like original tires.
If you would have passed on this oddy then you should be shot with your own poo. Just my opinion.
Very nice.

Trail Tech gauges or any other gauge: My opinion is keep your FN eyes on the road. Your gona crash bad at high speed looking at the awesome rpm on the gauge ---------------- not good.

As long time members here know, I like Avgas. The higher octane will prevent you from melting an Engine. The oddys run real hot because of detonation of todays shitty fuel. The fuel of today is not the same stuff as the fuel of 1985. The oddy Engine is behind the seat so it gets very little cooling. Honda had many recalls trying to solve this heat issue. They recalled the piston size (went smaller) , recalled the head (put angled fin heads on) , recalled the side air scoops (made them bigger) , and then finally gave up on the thing all together after just one year in production. Four years later they come out with a liquid cooled 400cc Engine -- hummmmm I wonder why ?? Before I start another argument here I will say that yes you can run pump gas but when you run high octane the Engine temps drop like a stone. The reason an oddy Engine runs like a flame thrower is because the pump fuel detonates and the lack of air flow cooling really magnifies this issue. Check out all the posts on this site about melted oddy engines. I posted a poll to see how many members ran high octane fuel and how many run pump gas. It was 50/50 result.
Avgas -- amen.

PS: VERY nice machine, nice score.

You should be able to hold that switch secure with a bit of JB Weld or some silicone.

Looks like a nice shop.
Has hydraulic press and what looks like crimping dies to make hydraulic hoses and an O-Ring board.
I might be wrong.

Dually noted, and yea I'm pretty fortunate to be able to work in a nice shop. my grandpa and his old man built it. We do all of our own repairs on all of our equipment. And those are just random old bearing races and misc size stuff to use to press stuff. We do have a crimper to build all our hydraulic hoses in the other building. This is our most recent project that's been keeping us busy. There was glitter in the diff, the washer was the culprit. Also how the hell do you rotate photos? Or doesn't on the work a certain way??

On my phone it depends which way I hold it when I take a photo.
If I hold it vertical the picture is different than if I hold it horizontal.
I always just download to my computer and rotate them in the pictures folder. Then download here.

Ok thanks, I'll give that a try.
