I still need to work on the tie rods / bump steer setup and modify the gas tank to allow the rear arm to pass through it 1 1/2 inch.

In the coming weeks I will be sending everything out to get sandblasted and get started on some paint. My good friend and I have also invested in a powder coating setup. We are using a conventional oven so limited to smaller parts but pretty excited about it.

looking great..are going to be able to run fenders. that is one of my big things I love my fenders. looks like a power steering bracket, that will be awesome

one thing that I might of done different was the the rear arms. instead of having them where you mounted them. I would of gone off the very back the way that Farr made his. then you would clear your fuel tank.

I will have to make my own fenders for the rear. With this configuration it was not possible for me to mount the rear heims any further back. I wish I could have. Farr is not using the same parts as I am. His setup is all custom made while I am utilizing off the shelf parts for my knuckle and hubs.

Very sharp, good vice color too. It’s going to be a weapon of a bug that’s for certain.

I had originally just sprayed the frame white to have a nice surface to sharpie up for mods but it has definitely grown on me. I have decided to keep that color combo but the suspension parts will be blue.

Hahaha that sounds like a nice vise, mine is a harbor freight special LOL. Hell... I would use a pink vise if it worked good, I’m not to picky when it comes to tools. Got to save my money for buggy stuff I did just get a little present for my welder though.

Have you been welding long, do you work in the field?

I have been welding for about 3 years as a hobby and have owned my own welder for the last 2. I wired the electrical in my friends house (Welder by trade) while he was doing a renovation and he gave me the welder as a thank you. It's an old hobart beta mig 200, still purrs like a kitten though. My buddy's would poke fun at me about it because the gun was toast and I was using tape to keep the nozzle on for a bit. The local welding store told me $500 for a replacement, I thought expensive for a free welder and it still did get the job done. The other day my friend sent me a link for the one I have now $205 shipped to my door. I have practiced tig welding on my friends welders but don't have one of my own yet. I am going to let him mod the tank for me.

Did some more power coating yesterday for this build. Going to look sweet.

That is a great question and I am unsure. I want to say that it would probably change a deg or 2 but I did not take note of it. I will double check when I get it back together.

Looking Awesome Curtis! I have the same powder coating set up. I made a custom booth with an exhaust fan to vent excess powder out of the area and pass it through a filter. There's a rumor that an FL400 EPS setup is coming your way..

Probably doesn't matter with such short travel, but the suspension gods always say the shock should be 90 deg to the trailing arm at full bump. If it goes beyond, the shock is no longer progressive.

Thanks methodical! We made booth as well in thinking we could recover unused powder but not really using enough to make it worth it. Using an exhaust fan as well but I didn’t think of putting a filter in front of it.

Bullnerd, the suspension gods must be cursing me out right now. After you asked the question you got me thinking about it and I figured that’s what you were referring to. My plan is when I reassemble it I won’t paint the trailing arms till I verify this setup. It will be easy to move the mount a little bit if need be. Shouldn’t effect my ride height much or I can trim the mounts to accommodate. Thanks for the information & your the 3rd person to lend me advice and knowledge on this setup. Cheers!

Finished the gas tank mod tonight. I’m not good with welding aluminum so a friend of mine helped me out. Shouldn’t effect fuel capacity to much. I think it came out pretty good and will serve its purpose. One step closer.

Now I’m waiting on some derlin bushings for my steering.

Looks tight, the Ski Doo twins under 800cc sip the fuel anyway.

LOL, not mine, it takes a lot pushing through the sand, was out on a ride Sunday and burned right around 7.5 gallons, I have a spun aluminum tank at about 5 gallons and dumped a 1.3 gallon in, the ride ran one of out groups buggies with an ecotech out of gas, he said he started with 12 gallons, it was a fun ride with perfect conditions, GPS said 40 plus miles but I think it is not setup quite right and doesn't get all of the turns counted

I have been meaning to check the capacity of the Farr gas tanks and will check this one before I install it. I have yet to run out of fuel with my FL350 engines & these tanks. It needs to be flushed out now anyhow. I was thinking of building a mount in the back to hold a fuel tank for longer trips. Site member meegusmaster has built some pretty slick ones for hers & I might copy that design.
