As you know I came into a FL350 project that may take awhile. Ordered a water cooled head off eBay and I have to get a bore and piston job done. I have been trying to do a pressure test and so far I haven’t been able to hold pressure for 6 minutes at 6 Pounds. So I thought I would work on the gas tank pick up tubes. I got the old tubes out and made a small plate for the new tubes to weld to. Tig weld ?? Hopefully. Does this look like it will work? I’m thinking I have to just pull Engine out so I can see everything real well when I spray it with soapy water. Might be seal under cover under Recoil cover?
Do you think my pick up tubes are the correct length?

Looks nice. The only thing I thought of when I looked at it, was will the tubes move around too much and eventually crack at the top?

Maybe connect them with a little brace to stiffen them up? Or would it be better to let them flex a little? Like the tree that bends with the wind?

Ok I might be over thinking it..lol Nice work.
