Another shot, this one using the flash

It was pretty windy this evening, will make for virgin sand in the am, got to hit it befor the sun gets too high or it can get dangerously hard to see

I think if you were to get someone to film you going through some whoops so you can see how the suspension it reacting you could determine what you need. more/less compression/rebound

I have some video of the rear shock put just not sure how to interpret, I'm thinking that for one the rebound is not fast enough, you could see my tracks through the woops that with each one the tire is not coming down to follow the back side and the front side hits pretty hard.

Was looking at the pictures, to give an idea of the wind at that point, check out the flag and the fact that there are no tracks behind the pilot where I hade stopped no more than 5 or 10 minutes

Very cool, beautiful ride, and excellent work!

Are these the Glamis dunes your running at?

I'd love to meet up with some other Oddy riders someday :-)

yes, Imperial Sand Dunes AKA Glamis. if you're in Phoenix area it's just a 3-4 hour trip. if you are only going for one day, come out next Friday, the sand will be pretty beat up but it's quite a show at the hill you will not soon forget.
I'll be there thru Sunday of next week. :-)

Oh man, super tempting. My wife would kill me though, we have the whole family coming to her brothers house for turkey day, and I know she's got plans to spend time with them so I'll have our boys.

If I had a bit more time to plan it out (and prep her :-)) I'd be there in a heartbeat.

How do stock machines fare in the dunes? Assuming everything is running pretty well, jetted, etc, how does a 350 with paddles do in the dunes?

pilot, stock with paddles is a very fun ride, can go just about everywhere, you may need to go around and find an easy way up some tall steep stuff but very capable, it can get bumpy, the woops will tend to toss you around.
I don't know much about the oddy, a friend just got one and brought it to the dunes, he seemed to have a lot of fun with it, no paddles. it does not seem as capable as the pilot but that is just my opinion and my friend is carrying maybe 50 lbs more than I am so that has to be considered too.

Now if you want to spend some money and do a long travel oddy and rotax, then we are talking but if going from scratch you would be wise to get an RS1, I hear they are a fun ride!

Update on this, has been working great, I did break an axle this season, superbowl weekend, lucky for me I have a friend who had a pair of replacements so I was ready to roll for the next trip. I did find a shop out of Phoenix that could make new axles, he said cost for a pair would be $500-600 but price goes down as quantity goes up.
