I got a streetpilot 7500 and want to attach it to my pilot to take some readings on property the thing can run off a cigarette lighter. would this work with the size battery the pilot has and where should I splice in to electricute myself? I would like to mount it on the foot tub bar, it would be removable because I want to thrash about and not trash the unit. Hey its got xm radio on it, plus if I have a camera on the rear it could show up on the monitor...or hell anywhere you mount the camera it would be wicked funny.

What are the power requirements of the streetpilot? I doubt its that much of a draw, I would tap into the system right at the battery, don't forget to add a fuse.

that's a really nice unit to take off road.

I agree with hoser. No splicing just run a fresh pair from the battery via a fuse. The battery / alternator should be able to handle it. Just don't run the lights if your questionable.

I use an older Garmin 48 to do the track logging. And then upload to the pc for the Maps. In the truck I have an old Color Street Pilot.
