Anyone ever rode a flathead service trike? I picked one up today to give to my girl friend for Christmas. This thing is a hoot to drive but more sensitive than a woman going through the change in life! I ran her up on the highway and was shocked how fast it would go and even more shocked as to how quick it would change lanes with a simple nudge of the bars. It has had the primary sprocket changed out to a larger one for a taller gear ratio. I'll send Hoser a picture to post. |

The tike is a 65 Police Service Trike pwered by a 45 cu.in. flathead V-twin with a 3 speed trans. with reverse. The Ultra Classic is a 06 model with all the bells & whistles. The red & black bike is a Vulcan classic 1500cc I sold to get the Trike. |

Congrats on the new purchases. That Ultra sure looks comfy! The trike looks like it should be in the living room behind velvet ropes. Happy Holiday! |

I don't plan on keeping the trike for very long. I simply want to play with it for a spell then pass it along for someone else to do the same. It's been pretty cold here lately so I've been freaking people out by riding this around the city streets with a thermal skull mask on and all black leathers. I've been getting more attention than the girls showing their....... |

She seems to like it alright after a first demo ride down the street in first gear only. Pretty cold here right now but she'll be getting another demo ride again real soon. |

Post subject: | Servi-Car |
Yes, very similar but this one is a newer model with the fiberglass body & fenders molded together. Mine has a hefty steel body with removable fenders. The Servi-car kept the basic same design from 35-73. Always had a 45 cu.in. flathead Engine, 3 sp. with reverse. A true testimonial to the orignal design and HD's lack of desire to improve engineering. Mine was meter maid model with right hand shift, left hand throttle (has been moved to the right). This would allow the meter maid to drive along and chaulk mark tires on the parked cars and return at a given time to see if they had moved. I am looking for the required parts to convert mine to left hand shift for ease of shifting. I currently have to remove my throttle hand to do so or reach across the tank. I have the original left hand bar for throttle but would rather keep it right hand as most bikes are. |
