I just reaquired my old off road CJ-7 Jeep that I'd traded earlier for a 325 TrailBoss Quad.
I welded the rear diff. spider gears up years ago as the limited slip clutches were toast and I didn't want to fork out the bucks for a Detroit Locker.
Now that it has returned to me I wanted to do an inspection of how well it was holding up as this Jeep has 33x15.5x15 tires on it and the last owner drove it on pavement. I only off road it.
Some of the welds had broke (pic. shows this) so I put the heat to her again and dumped some more rod in her.
This is my Cheap Jeep Locker. Not recommended for street use!

How is it holding up?

My brother bought gears that don't mesh for the front end of his truck pulling truck its like welding but you don't have to worry about welds breaking.

I really haven't had it out much since I rewelded it. The first time it got very thorough testing and held up fine until the dude I sold it to started running it on pavement. This rig has 15.5 inch wide tires so there is quite a foot print that has to be able to slide.

I now have another friend that has commited to purchasing it from me & wants to convert it back to street use so the diff. will have to come out and be replaced.
