We have a Harmon Pelet Stove we use as our main source of heat.
Electric baseboard is backup.

Well today wife hear's a bigg pow and smoke coming from the stove.
This is the second time we've had potentially serious danger problems if un attended.

Looks to me the burn pot sperated from the burn chamber and it looks like the weld let go.

Time to pull her out and get inside. Any one else use pellet stoves? Harmon by chance? I've gotten like 14 years on this puppy.

Your right the pics don't help me much I bet a service guy or the factory, someone that was use to looking at them could spot something real easy.

We use a Breckwell pellet stove & electric base board for about 10 years. The burnpot looks a lot different.I did have some burn through on the bottom of the pot that i had repaired before this season. No problems like you described.Does your burn pot come out?Mine just slides out to clean. How much are you paying for pellets up there? The cheapest down here I found was around $215 a ton.A couple places I checked wanted just over $6 a bag(40lbs).For that money I'll use my electric.Hope you can get it taken care of soon.

I have a Harmon fireplace insert. Mine is about 5 years old. I'll have to check the pot. I had electric when I bought the house and installed a high efficiency gas furnace. But I like to have the fire and the pellets are alot cleaner and easier than wood.

We pay $285 a ton and 20 or 25$ for delivery and stacking.
We buy them from Agway. Its like a feed and grain store.

Last year was bad. Beginnign of the year no pellets. Wasn't until about now did they come in. And the prices were very high.

For the baseboard electric I replaced all the thermostats with intellegent ones. Cut the heating bill down drastically.

This stove has gone 24 hrs a day 7 days a week every winter now for 15 years. One year it was down due to a dumb arse repair guy putting a new motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) in backwards.....

I'll pull it out and check it out. I need to repair it not just for heat. But, I have 3/4 ton of pellets in the garage.

This burn pot might come out. Never had to yet. Its an auger feed from below.

The Breckwell we have has the auger dropping the pellets in from just above the burn pot & the burn pot just slides right out.Hope yours comes out that easy.We have gone through the shortages here too. Most of the time we get the pellets from hardware stores, wherever the best price is.It's been anywhere from agway to walmart but even walmart & sams club has been high this year.Where do you have your stove? We put ours in the basement(fun carrying 2 1/2 tons down there 40 lbs at a time)but it heats the whole first floor nicely & takes the edge off the second.
