I picked up a small dirt/trail bike as a father/son project. It needs a new chain and sprockets but I can't seem to find out what model this thing is. I do know that it is not a YZ, it's more of a trail bike (without head or taillights).

Here is what I know about this thing:

Year: 1986 or 1987

Size: Engine is stamped "98cc" so I'm assuming it's a 100

It's a 2-stroke with a 2-cyle oil tank under the seat.

The bike is wrapped in white plastic, the seat is purple and the rear shock springs are yellow.

Can anyone help me ID this thing? Web searches are not helping me as I can't seem to find a 1986 or 1987 Yamaha 100 that looks like this bike.

I'll try to post pics if that will help.

Thanks.

I am thinking MX, it was a mild trailbike, a DT I believe used the same components, but was a dual purpose bike. I am going off of memory, so double check....

Holy crap - I think that's it! or damn near close enough. Thank you very much! Did you notice that the springs on the rear shocks are two different colors (one is white, one is yellow).
