There is no extra weight over a standard pilot, I am not using the pilot transmission and the rotax motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) is light, no balance shaft, just the bear minimum. The reverse is very light just a few extra wires a button and maybe a micro chip :-) I do not understand why more people no not use engines with RER.

I am told the Engine has 138 bhp? It feels fast  I need the cutter brakes to steer because the front tyres bearly touch the ground under acceleration.

There are 2 pickups to tell it when to spark, basically it switches over to the other pick up, the Engine backfires and runs in the opposite direction, The 2 stroke oil pump, water pump and cvt drive are designed to work with this type of Engine. It has a lower rev limit in reverse.

What is the Engine out of?

A buddy of mine had a sled with the reversing Engine worked pretty slick.

The Engine is the same as a ski doo 800 but I bought 2 used engines with carbs CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition)/ecu,s exhausts and everything else to run them, and 2 brand new spare engines, they were used in hovercraft in the James bond film die another day but were taken out of the hovercraft before they were blown up.
I have sold the 2 new engines but still have the second used Engine, If anyone has clutches to fit 02 on ski doo 800 I would be interested.

Has anyone had experiance of wiring a rotax Engine in to a pilot chassis.
I am not sure if I should use the pilot regulator which seems to have 6 wires going to it or use one from a ski doo which has 5 wires, and what to do with the extra wire or terminal, and any other tips for the wiring.

Also I have found that the original pilot throttle lever seems very heavy, probably because I am controlling 2 carbs and an oil pump, the length of the stroke seems fine so I can not alter the ratio. I wondered if I could use a kind of "Fly by wire" kind of set up from another vehicle?

I put a 440 ROTAX rotary in my Pilot but I used a single 38mm carb off a water craft so the throttle is soft and easy as it was stock.

I have heard of guys cutting a few coils off the springs to make it softer but you have to make sure your not putting yourself into a situation where the throttle can stick, I seen a few other sled conversions where they used a foot throttle..

For the regulator I used one made for my stator setup, mine only has 2 wires coming from the charge coil so I used a small 2 wire regulator rectifier at first then later upgraded to a larger one I got from DC that was for a Harkey Davison motorcycle. Info here http://pilotodyssey.com/PO/viewtopic.ph ... =regulator

If you can post a copy of your wiring diagram for the sled our electrical gurus here can probably work out a solution.. Heck you might be able to use the stock Pilot regulator rectifier.
