Well while out this weekend at Dumont I had a little problem. While out for our first ride I felt it getting a little poppy in the mid range and held a high idle for 10 to 15 seconds after I came to a stop. So back to camp we went. Cruised back and parked her. After she cooled down I took a look and found that the base gasket blew out right above the clutch.

After disassembling it today to my surprise nothing got into the Engine. Everything looks good and clean. Piston has a normal wear. At least I caught it in time. Man I HATE cometic gaskets. I will be using oem.

Good early catch and glad to hear you didn't suck a bunch of sand too. I agree, cometic gaskets suck the big one! Hate em.

That has happen to me twice using the Honda gaskets, now I use Yamabond on one side of the gasket, pretty much glue it to the cylinder, has not happen since...
