Oh yea!

Took my kid for a ride around the yard and down the field, we got up to about 50 mph (laughing and yelling "Rally Car!") when the exhaust got loud grrrrr muffler or exahsut is loose, I will warm it up and take down hard road tomorrow.

Runs rough and has a hesitation think it is fuel related or maybe needs a tune up once it takes off it has great power I think you will like it, didnt see any smoke out the tail pipe or smell any either but there is a tick tick tick sound that sounds like rockers or a valve adjustment thing.


Any way my kid wants to know if it is for sale he even wants it with no Engine haha, wonder if we can shoe horn that R1 Engine under the hood?

You know what I want from it, he can have the rest of it.

The R1 Engine is actually smaller overall than the one in there.

Think of the gearing you would have R1 is a 5 speed?
Sprint is a 5 speed?

Run chain from Engine to trans input on sprint, maybe leave Engine up high like
Mel Gibson did?

Oh almost forgot, the Turbo light in the dash flickers on and off (green)
it almost works or reacts like the Vacuum light older cars use to have.

You have a manual for this Engine setup?

Yeah send it I can use when I remove the Engine and crapola then hand off to Drakman
when I deliver the Engine and parts removed, Ihavent had a chance to really look at it
but need to find the computer and all the controls he will need to make it run.

Hey Hoser,

I talked to the Engine "guru" this afternoon. He says the Sprint Engine has a completely different top end than the geo. The newer geo has hadraulic lifters that are self adjusting, and the older sprint has solid lifters that are adjustable, and can become noisy. He thinks this is what you are hearing. He says this motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) will make a lot more power than my current set-up.

Stock boost is something like 7 or 8 pounds, I have been running 5 and under on the modified geo Engine. As soon as I would pass 5 or so pounds, is when this set-up will start to cut out. Out at Glamis is was doing similar things, but I would just try to "feather" it thru the rough spots. Obviously what I was doing was running on the lean side even when it didn't cut out completely. He says kids are taking and hot rodding these sprints with boost up into the 20s, but the life is then dramatically shortened.

He says that "running poorly" could be many things, but none of them likely all that serious. He had one of these sprint cars for years, it had well over 150 thousand miles on it and was still running strong when he sold it.

manual went in the mail today. The problem with the turbo sprints is that the turbo's are junk they usually only lasted about 70 or 80000 miles if you were lucky. In- laws sprint had 170000 miles on it when the tranny lost 3rd gear and they parked it.

Fortunately I have two extra turbos. 70,000 miles in one of these machines would be a lot of riding, although I don't know how many miles are on them at this point.

Yes, it is my understanding that you can rebuild one a lot cheaper than replacing.

I talked to a turbo rebuilder a year or so ago when i was considering using the sprint motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) for a buggy project that never panned out. He told me that they can be rubuilt if absolutely necessary, but that for the most part they were throw away items. You'd prolly be better off with an aftermarket turbo or other alternative than rebuilding the sprint turbo.

Chris, I have 3 of these turbos, one good for sure, one most likely OK, and third supposed to be Ok. So, hopefully I won't have to find out how expensive it is to repair/replace.

Hoser, I located a manual for current Engine, and am on my way to pick it up. Lots of work yet to be done, but I'm still hoping to be ready.

Manual says to remove the starter and generator I cant even see the bolts
to remove them, still looking for the Engine mounts lol
