The vmax4 is a 4 cylinder. They made a 750 and an 800. Later years were the 800. Im pretty sure all the others were twins.

Thanks for the info guys, I just recently started looking for a donor sled & I'm sure something will pop up. Even if I find something right away, I wont pull the side by side apart until this winter because the family is enjoying it as is for now. If I find something I'll post here and get everyones thoughts on it before buying. Electric start is one of the things that is almost a "must have" because my wife rides this buggy.

IMO find a complete running sled so you know you have everything I spent way too much time searching for a exhaust for my swap, I had the stock twin pipe exhaust and a AAEN after market twin exhaust but I wanted the 2 into 1 OEM pipe to keep the Engine compartment clean and leave room for everything else, I gave up some HP with the pipe choice but I was over powered to begin with.

Any modern liquid cooled 440cc on up would be my choice, post here before you buy for example skidoo made some 440 sleds that were only 65HP it was their low power version of their other 440 engines probably double the HP and torque if what you have now but that Engine really had no potential if you wanted to crank it up where as you buy the better version of their 440 Engine it makes 80-95hp and it rock solid reliable stock, other MFGs also had lower power versions of their engines.

Make sure it has a CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) ignition I had a 440 fan cooled sled Engine in a 250 Ody and it kept getting dust in the points and I had to keep removing the flywheel and cleaning them got old fast but was a great Engine sled engines don't always seal up the ignition area good.

Keep in mind your never going to swap back to the Honda stuff you selling all the Honda stuff should more than cover the cost of the Engine swap keep this in mind when choosing a 300.00 sled over a more modern 600.00 sled plus your chances of parting out whats left of the more modern sled is even greater.

470 Rotax twin. Compact size, can use a small primary clutch that will play nice with the Oddy secondary, less pipe dependent than the bigger twins, single or dual carb availble.

It would be a smoother ride and longer travel with an a-arm front suspension. That would be awesome on it. This is one of the best jobs i`ve seen in awhile. Love it, had one. Had a pilot and now own an Redline Revolt.

Thank you, I'd like too change the front end over to A arms sometime in the future, but right now the thing it needs the most are new rear shocks. I am thinking about trying a set of of Fox airs on it as soon as the budget permits.

What dimmentions of fox airs are you looking for? Pro Pilot Popper has a used set of them for sale. they are 15.53" eye to eye.

I don't know I was just going to look for what ever I could get a deal on, since I figured I would have to build upper mounts anyway. Where did you see his listed?
