what tach are you using? how will you wire it? ive tried forever to find a tach to work with my sled eng. progress looks excellent! i may borrow the way you mounted the gas tank and oil tank!

Can this tach be used with a Pilot internal combustion Engine as well?

would assume it would work on any two stroke

I'll go over the instructions again but I would think so.

Thank you for looking. What is the average price for that tach?

Yes I think it has gone up a tad to 70+ bucks but still cheaper then purchasing from the manufacturer.

Nice build but I would like to offer a word of advice on you air filter. Even with the shield on it you will need better filtration. Those K&N style filters work great for unrestricted air flow but they do very little for the fine particles of dirt, dust and sand which can pass through it. Those small particles are extremely abrasive and will do a number to an Engine in short order.

I recently pulled apart an Ody reed assembly that was "protected" by a K&N filter inside the factory air box which still used the upper factory air collector. I found grains of sand trapped within the petals of the reed assembly.

If you insist on running the filter, do yourself a favor and use a three stage system. You can wrap that filter with an outer wrap that is a fairly dense filter material such as the material that is used for the inner filter such as a UNI filter. You can then wrap that with an outer sock such as a K&N prefilter. I have used this setup in the past and it works well.....If you make sure the K&N style filter is COMPLETELY wrapped with the inner and outer additional filters.

Amen to that. K&N filters are designed for flow 'n' show -- not for Engine protection. And if you're riding in dirt / sand, you'll want as much protection as you can get. Their oiled filters are simple wire mesh, layered cotton gauze, and wire mesh.

AEM makes a good dry (non-oil) washable filter to use as a pre-filter (what I use). Good efficiency and the filter is probably 3x too big for the FL350R Engine, so flow & dirt capacity are ambiguous. And then I have an oiled UNI filter in the air box. Or there are plenty of radial-seal filters in your FRAM aisle.

But I'd recommend using an airbox filter made with cellulose media + oiled foam wrap + external pre-filter. And use a fuel filter, too. Don't want to build a fortress around the intake box and let your guard down on the fuel contaminant / sediment!

By the way, awesome build. That thing looks new! You're making me want to go bigger on my Engine for my latest project. =)

Are those fenders from chucklenuts at aftershot motorspurts? I see he is selling them on Ebay for like 650 bucks with brackets?????

that is a sweet looking dash pannel for sure! Are you just going to be using 2 pyrometer gauges for your EGT?

Yes, 2 egt's, volt, water temp. and a tach in the middle.

Awesome. I really love the look of that dash pannel. You have done a great job on this odyssey! I should think about getting a couple pyrometers. How did you mount the dash pannel to the bar?

This project is looking great! Could you take a close up pick of your clutch alignment from the driven to the primary?
I would like to see if mine compares...
Thanks

I have the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) out right now, but will take one when it goes back together. The dash panel is mounted to the cross bar, we welded a piece of angle to the cross bar and tapped the holes. We will make a box for the back of the panel to seal the gauges to the hood.

Thanks guy's, its ALOT of welding and grinding and we did the bend on the front on a homemade brake, but it worked fine.

Someone has really good fab skills cant wait to see this machine in action.

You may want to consider a scoop you can open on the hood for those hot days.

Thanks Hoser, its a guy named Bob Parrott, he did one of the side panels today. can't wait to post the pics, its as nice as the hood. Frame will be red and all the panels will be white so it has a full "body" look. The two LED head lights came today and the LED lightbar and two one gallon roto Pax will get her next week, then finish welding and grinding and off to the powder coaters.
