I found out I have a CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) ignition and if does not have a choke on it. I think the airbox serves as a choke. I bid on one on eBay that bighead found for me, I hope I can get this. And I found out that the right carb hasn't worked in ages probably and the left carb is the only one that's working. I gotta take carbs off today and take them to my mechanic and see if he can fix it. Quick question. The buggy still has the od tranny in it, what type of oil does it take?

Forgive me if you already answered this I must have missed it, do the carbs have chokes on them YES or NO ?

Ok then you need to install a primer to start that Engine, some snowmobiles came with chokes some came with a primer system.

You have a shop close to you that has personal watercrafts or snowmobiles they will have them.

Look close at your carbs, intake, Engine you might find the factory ports where you hook it up, this is why I asked for detail pics of the intake and carb area.

I have one those on my FL250. They work great but you only need like a half pump to prime. They will shoot plenty of fuel with half pump. When I first got mine I pump a few times and flooded the Engine. They are super nice for cold starts though.

Measure the size of the carb where the filter goes in MM and look online.

Would it be better to get those foam filters or the dual carb k&n air filter?

I would get the foam UNI filter. Airbox is best but you got to work with what you have.

Now were getting some place remove those yellow caps on the carbs are they a mini hose barb that will accept a 1/8" fuel line?

Do they just go right inside the carb AFTER the carb slide meaning if you squirted gas in them holes it would go right into the Engine to be burned?

If so that's where you hook up the 'primer kit' and shoot the gas before you try to start the Engine. :-)

that's what they are hoser. I had this same motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) and i did a full rebuild on mine. If you hook up that primer it will fire right up when running good. The carb intake boots break really easy. Try to support the carbs on the back it will save you alot of push time. And try to keep a sparewith you.

Got the carbs back from the mechanic, he cleaned them out with an air compressor. But now, I need a gasket for one and air filters and I believe I'm ready to go riding. I have a primer ordered so hopefully it'll be here one day.

And what do you mean keep a spare with me? I'm confused on that part.

The rubber manifolds that hold your carbs. If you do not have any support the weight of the carbs will bounce around and rip the rubber over time. This will let air in a burn your Engine up. Keep a close eye for rips and cracks in that rubber manifold.

Today was a progress day.

Bought new spark plugs and got everything set.
Bought stuff to make a gasket for the Carb bowl.

And the best part - STARTED ON FIRST PULL AND IDLED - never done that in long time.

But still need air filters. ):

Not too many snowmobile/air plane Engine stores here in Wild and Wonderful Southern West Virginia.

11:05. WON MY AUCTION FOR THE SILENCER!

Now you got to make a support bracket to hold that airbox. But nice choice going with an airbox. Is there filters inside th airbox already?

Mount the air box behind the gas tank. Then big shop vac hoses from the carbs to the airbox. This way your airbox is not sticking out the back of the buggy. Make the hoses as short as you can and hope you get enough air to your Engine.

Here is a pic to give you an idea what I am talking about.

Great news - the beast is up and running. I took it for a ride today and its like riding a cloud, the shocks and suspension is so soft.

I feel stupid saying this but what the Carb problem was, was that the floats was upside down.

I couldn't get off of it today. Too much fun! It took me to run out of gas 2 miles away from home for me to stop.
Embarrassing being pulled home by a fourwheeler. Lol.

Asphalt was tough to ride on but dirt/mud/sand was perfect.

Just need a new padded seat!

Now time for march madness!!!

Here is a link to the service manual (reference page 4-2) for oil requirements.
