Hello to all, I am making a dual air intake for my LT Pilot.

What do you all think of this location, there are two different ways I am thinking of doing it, one with the air filters both pointing at a down angle and one with the inside air filter pointing at an up angle.

I like it better with both filters pointing at a down angle.

Opinions please, mainly what do you all think of this location.

Thank you.

I like them pointed down best as well. But if you can make it easier to get to things below the filters then stick one or both up.

Steve you do not wish to have them run up to the upper cage somewhere?

Hello, thank you all for the reply's.

Gregg, I have my light mounted up there. I did look at putting them there but I think I will have better access to the Engine with out removing them, also I think they will get a little more air where I have them. Do you think this spot is OK?

I would point them down Steve. With them sticking up, along with the shock mounts in the way it looks like you have really limited access to for Engine work, jetting etc... Looks good, now when are we going riding?? lol..

I mounted mine horizontal to reduce the chances of anything that makes it past the first filter being able to make it to the air box, pointing down would help that a bunch, pointed up it would funnel it right in

Hello Hoser, my thoughts exactly but what do you think of the location?

I spent hours making different templates and trying different locations, this is the best spot I came up with for access to the Engine.

Thank you everyone for all your input.

Hello Adnoh, fueling should be no problem. I will take some pictures of that area when complete.

I have finished the bracket, now just to get the wholes drilled and fittings installed. I wanted to have both filter's pointing at a down angle, in the end to have both pointing down equally I would have to trim the fan shroud which I do not want to do, so I decided to mount the inside air filter at a 10* down angle and later I will buy another filter with a 20* down angle.

I will post some pictures when it is all done.

I like the way you squeezed in the lucky #7 in your design. You shoot craps? Nice work.

Hello Adnoh, thank you. No gambling for me I have terrible luck. The number 7 has always been my favorite # since I can remember, I am sure it has something to do with the fact that I have a lot of gamblers in my family. Which is why I do not gamble, well I should not say I do not gamble at all I do buy my wife lottery tickets now and then.

Here are some pictures of the finished product.

Take care.

Looking good are you using the same size prefilters I use on my Pilot or are these bigger?

Thank you Sir.

These are 4 x 7 with a 10* angle and a 1 inch flange, RU-1480 is the part #.

They look big in this picture

Kinda like these on a Drakart that have been known to fall off.

I would drill a 1/4" hole in the end of the filter then make a bracket that goes to the frame some place and bolt it to the filter to support the filter so the weight will never pull it off.

You can make the brackets light weight and even look good if you drill some holes in them like the support bracket I made for my air scoop on my 440 Pilot.
