Dumont Dunes is a nice place to camp and ride, it is a fee area you need to buy the 7 day or year pass.

On my way from the small dunes to the big dunes I hit a huge rock with my skid plate so stopped and removed a bunch of other big rocks creating a hoser pile, most of the rocks on that pile have aluminum and paint marks on them where others have bashed them too, feel free to add to the pile if you run across it.

Their is a huge wide LONG FLAT stretch of land between the small and big dunes, you could have a 1 mile long drag race! do speed runs, too bad everybody chooses to do their speed runs in the parking lot next to your motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) home lol I suspect its that "look at me" or "short penis" syndrome that keeps them within 100' of camp but I could be wrong...

One thing I didnt like about Dumont Dunes was the trash, the whole place is a friggen garbage dump, I thought the back streets of the South side of Chicago were bad I am not talking the normal lost bottle of water whilst riding you normally see I am talking about HUNDREDS of bags of garbage thrown EVERYWHERE heck you climb up a 300' dune and see as much trash as you would find 1/2 mile away from any trash dump, I cant wait to hear people cry when they close the place down, I am no tree hugger or save the world homo but I could not dispute anything they had to say about closing Dumont because of garbage... FYI the pics I took of the garbage was BEFORE presidents day not after.

IF you watch people leaving to go home you see open trailers with bags of garbage on their trailer, you also notice when you leave full bags of garbage along side the hwy for 50 miles in either direction of the dunes.

I also noticed just about any ditch in AZ CA and NV has a over whelming ammount of trash in them I guess its a left coast thing.... even in remote areas. I seen a sign that said "no services for the next 52 miles" seen one car in that stretch of road and the ditches were full of trash lol

Dunno why they don't make use of the convict labor to clean up...

Glamis is not any better, I seen people with 300k + motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) homes and 100k in toys leave their bags of garbage out in the wind, they took the time to go rescue their lawn chairs from being blown into the dunes but left their bags of garbage, the next day it was scattered all over the dunes, more fuel for the tree huggers.

The cool part is you can buy a 60 dollar year pass then camp FREE primitive at Dumont for 14 days then your suppose to move 30 miles, I doubt they enforce the 14 day rule rangers seem to be in short supply.

The sand is great despite all the trash with it, the parking lots are dusty but its a desert floor, they have primitive out houses all over but no water or electric so bring a generator and plenty of water.... Nukems buddy brought out his 25' ? almost NEW killer nice travel trailer for a 7 day stay but didnt fill the water tanks? or bring a generator?...

Bring plenty of everything Baker is 33 miles away if you need to run to town...

don't get hurt because getting medical help might take hours!

My cell phone worked great at Dumont.

One thing I have not seen before was people putting up fences, I didnt know you could go onto public lands and put of a fence and claim property I guess they do it to keep the parking lot racer morons away from them and their kids? Some even claimed small dunes, up and over to the other side, that didnt last long as others went right through their fence until they moved it back some so people could pass.

Watch where you drive their are many soft spots, I was about as close to the dunes as you want to safely drive, their was about 7 rigs that pulled in and got stuck, one guy started to spin his tires so stopped and got out to lock in the hubs, soon as he tried to move the rig dropped 6"

Wish I had been paying attention and knew you were there or Glamis. Could've grabbed the pilots & 250R and headed out for at least a (sick)day.

Looks like you were practically alone.

We need another trailer and the manx is still in the shop getting the cage fabbed (he's doing it on the side, way on the side.....).

The wife's drawn it up in 3D for the guy too, by the time it's done, with all the CAD favors she's done for him, it'll be free.

Anyway wish we could've hooked up for at least a day.
