I just brought home a 250 and a 350. I'm located in Morgan Hill CA. Been around cars all my life and bought these to have some fun with the family....the 11 year old is thrilled.

The 250 has sat for a while but the 350 is ready to go appearing to have been well preserved.

Looking forward to learning from the experts.

Welcome new guy.
OH GOD there is so much to learn but I have to keep my novel short or it will be pages long.

1) That FL350 appears to be straight (not rolled). Hard to tell for sure based on the angle of those pics but it looks good.
2) No wrist restraints on the FL350 -- that's not good. In a roll over you'll break your arm.
3) Looks like stock fuel pump on the FL350 -- Ohhhhhhhhhh. You must do a flow test.
4) It's still air cooled -- Ohhhhhh. I strongly suggest AVGAS. You have been warned.
5) Original seat belts -- Ohhhhhhhh. If you value your life these must be replaced.
6) I see a puddle of oil or fuel under that FL350. What's that about ??

1) FL250 has no wrist restraints. Not good. These machines are very open with no side bars. Your arms MUST be kept inside.
2) Can't really see the seat belts but use same reason as above. But it does look like the nicer shape of the two units.

On both of these machines you will have to flow test the fuel pumps. If they don't put out the required amount of fuel you'll lean out the Engine and -------- poofkaboom. Two strokes don't like to be leaned out.
On both of these machines you MUST pressure test these engines BEFORE you even start them again. Right now you have no idea what you got.
If you need manuals for these things we can direct you to a link for FREE pdf manual downloads.
I have to stop here or this thread is gona be long. Start a new thread in tech or general section for things you want to know.

Thanks for the info. The 350 may not look it in the photos but is far nicer than the 250. All the rubber is there and still pliable. Paint is in good shape and not faded. I've got a bunch of parts on the way including wrist restraints for both. The 250 is getting a new original fuel pump too.

The 350 starts easily and runs well. I've only done a few laps in it before I brought it home and put it in the garage. Last night I changed all the fluids including the gas. It doesn't leak. Only thing I know it needs for sure is a little work on the steering as it pulls to the right.

The 250 hasn't run in a few years. When I got it the pull rope had lost the knot on the inside. I fixed that and then tried to start it but no go. Now the knot on the outside came undone so I have to fix it again. Has good spark but I can't see any fuel in the filter so I'm going to replace all the lines, pump and filter and then try to prime it and see if it will run. I haven't done a compression check on either but the 250 has plenty based on the feel when trying to pull start it. Have a carb rebuild kit for it too so will do that before trying to run it again. If it runs well I'm going for electric start.

I've got a Clymer manual for the 250 and the Honda manual for the 350.

You claim the FL350 is pulling to the right.
One of the things you must check on these machines is the condition of your rod ends.
I bet big money the rod ends on the ends of the steering rods are junk now. There will be a rubber boot over them and it's almost impossible to remove the boot without tearing it. The rubber is old and non pliable now. Also check all the other rod ends on the machine. Mostly they will be good enough but without steering you're in trouble. Also I believe those rod ends are left hand thread and metric. I think they're tough to get. Haven't bought any for a long time.

Not very many active members anymore so you have to wait for answers some times.
Very few that are still hanging around or ghosting even comment anymore.
This is by far the most informative and knowledgeable site on the internet with regards to these machines. Decades of info here.

Searching for info:
The best way to find something here is to use the search box above.
In the search box type ONE word ONLY and hit enter. If you don't you will get to many hits.
When the list of threads comes up there will be another search box there on the right.
In that box type ONE word ONLY. Keep doing this as many times as you want until you have narrowed it down. Some common words will be ignored like "Engine" "Honda" etc.
Also at the very bottom of any thread you read will be an area where there a similar threads to the one you are reading. You can click on them to read.

Thanks for all the info Canadian Oddy.

Here's a few more shots of the two. Yesterday I went to the DMV and got both registered in my name. They also gave me green stickers so I can take both out in the state parks that allow off road riding.

That FL350 does look nice.
I don't think I have ever seen an oddy that had an undamaged front bumper.
Roof lid is straight and roll cage is straight. Looks good.
Lots of work to come though. Trust me.

I like that dune buggy. Dad used to have one when we were kids but it had no roof lid, it was open

The dune buggy is called a Bounty Hunter. Made by Mel Keyes who also did the 11' model of the Starship Enterprise for Star Trek.

It has a 110 HP Corvair Engine.

That's a really nice dune buggy. It has a nice shape and lines. I like it.
Really like the metallic green paint. That's the color I was gona paint my formula race car but the body shop decided they would choose the paint scheme not me. It ended up being better than my choice LOL. It was a nice surprise.
I think you meant 110 HP.

Took the 350 out for its maiden voyage. Had a blast. Rode it for about 4 hours. Made the mistake of doing some donuts without the goggles so I wore and ate a lot of dirt. Can't wait to get it out again
