eBay seller "QSC8" has always had a decent priced selection, plus they're out of Indiana which is Ohio's neighbor. They've got an "economy" line of tie rod & heim stuff which is plenty for my vehicles.

Nice! Good to see some progress.

I've walked past my buggy project like 1,000 times this week and it gets more agonizing each time, lol.

What did you end up thinking that would work for an air box?

To be honest, I think I'm just gonna make a shield for a non-K&N clamp on filter and put it on the end of the Bombardier spark arrestor box. Nothing else seems to fit like I want it to. I've got 3 iterations lying on the floor I'm not happy with! lol Hell, I'm still not 100% sure about the Summit racing cell yet. I'm worse than a woman sometimes when its come to decisions. Really need to spend an entire evening with the buggy & a 6pk to get things going again.

I've got 3 cubic yards of mulch in my trailer out in the parking lot right now, and a big un-tilled garden. That's what I'll be doing all weekend!

about a month ago I used a mt dew bottle cut in half upside down. drilled hole just big enough to snugly fit a gas line in. of course this was only on a small roto tiller while I was waiting for parts. trying to get it running after sitting years

Regarding the water pump cover with side outlet...

Its from an old model SkiDoo, like a mid/late 80's Blizzard. You need to put a plug in the small hole, that's all.

There's only one on evilBay I can find right now (go figure, its almost summer):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SKI-DOO-BLIZZARD-MOTO-SKI-ULTRA-SONIC-340-354-440-454-WATER-PUMP-COVER-/200879792307?pt=Snowmobile_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ec55e60b3&vxp=mtr"

It has to be the 4-bolt type with the "symmetrical cylcone" interior as in the pic. There are a ton of newer covers with more bolt holes and different interior config that do not fit.

Here's another one I found randomly...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Ski-Doo ... a2&vxp=mtr

Nope...haven't done ANYTHING to my FL470R since my last update. Working on spreading the SIXTH cubic yard of mulch in the yard, hanging gutters on my pole barn, finishing up my tiller project, hoping to plant the garden this weekend, and playing outside with my 1 y/o daughter (she's an outdoors addict!). But it sure has been awesome this past few nights with temps in the upper 60's, calm breeze through the barn, ice cold beer in the barn fridge, farmers out late drilling seed as some background noise...the perfect recipe for some late night wrenchin'!

$13 for the cover? Nice! I missed that one in this mornings' search.

Belt length...start off by praying that you'll find the 'right' size belt that's also available. lol

I did some math someplace in my write-up, but it's a semi-educated guess. But my best estimate was with an old stock belt that I cut, laced it on the pulleys, and then trimmed it until I got about the same tension (up/down slack movement in the middle). Rough estimate is a better term. Looked on evilBay for belt sizes and found there were a few longer and shorter than my estimate. So...I'm going to probably revisit my estimates and end up ordering a couple belt sizes to make sure, but hope/pray I nail it on the first try since belts are $30-$75 each.

Did the same thing on my tiller project and it took (3) iterations of belt sizes until I got it right even though I measured it all with the "string method" and used an old longer belt to guess the new size.

At least on the tiller I can slide the Engine +/-.375" in the slot to fine-tune. But in the buggy, the center-to-center distance is fixed. So you need to find the right belt, or else find something close and then tune the driven clutch with spring, cams, & shims.

well i really need to find some gaskets for this Engine

the Engine says 84
but the frame said September of 1984 so I'm thinking its an 1985 i just don't know what model it is i don't think i got an photo of the slead before i cut it up

anyone know of any other fourm sites that will know everything about the rotax engines ?

havent got any thing done except for the pipe

any one like my awesome cooling ?
the wrong way but it works :-)

only ran the Engine for 2-3 minutes as there is an big air leak on the pto cylinder

what radatior does anyone recommend i run on this setup?

want the smallest radiator that will work
don't want it to take up way too much room

Head gaskets are probably a square O ring and are reusable the cylinder gaskets you can probably get at any dealer that sells something ROTAX they probably fit the PWC engines too No gasket used for the crank cases just sealer like yamabond 4

The cylinder gaskets on my Engine were OEM it had 3 under each cylinder I reused them but only one gasket under each cylinder they raise the cylinders for higher RPM I wanted more low RPM, cant beat the quality of the factory gaskets must been made in Europe not on japan same with the O rings they were like new and had no damage

There's no dealer in my area for snowmobiles
I want to real seal the whole Engine so i don't have to worry about it
