I bought 2 of these to have on hand for our Odys. They are not quite as wide as the Honda seal but look like they will work fine but I have yet to try them.

The OEM seal is double lipped as you have crankcase perssure on one side trying
to get out and balancer oil trying to get in

I have tried to get NON gen seals and there not available

even tried to get 2 thin seal and run them back to back

Back to a OEM

I looked at the seal referred to above in the eBay link, it is not a true double lip seal ( should have two springs). Have the Honda of Canada seals come through?
Really would like the proper seal if available.
I bought the seal package from chucklenuts at aftershot motorspurts, it's not correct, it is the correct size but not a real double lip. Maybe it will work with a vented case, anyone tried this?

Ouch...that was like $59.95 + shipping for the seal kit, right? I guess they tell you the seals are aftermarket, just not that the 91203 is the wrong type. And they're charging FIFTY-NINE NINETY-FIVE + shipping for the same aftermarket stuff you, me, and Dick Trickle can buy on eBay for $14.50 + shipping???????? That ain't right, especially for the WRONG parts that will NOT work!! >=(

Needs to be a 45x62x8mm "DC" type seal. Same style as some fork seals...like this one that's preeeeeetty dang close in size...http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fork-Seals-45x6 ... 2575d2452d" .".." .".." .".." .".." .".." .".." .".. Who is making these? Why can't they make one in the size we need?? I emailed them, so we'll see.

If you can find them, make them available. Somewhere in some shop's basement in Japan, sits the mold set for this part.

I have some sales contacts at Goshen Rubber and Parker Seals in Indiana. Wonder if they can make any of this stuff even if its without the springs?? Even if the 1-off single cavity tool will cost like $1000 and then each part will be $5.00...if someone could make 100 of them, break-even price would only be $15.00 each. That's not all that bad, even if they came without springs. But...that's all hypothetical.

The seal on the clutch side of the crank cases is a regular single lip seal so why cant a single lip seal be used on the mag side, the made side just has a occasional clean oil splash on the seal the clutch side is bathed in dirt, mud, water, moisture much harsher environment.

Very true! But one has to assume Honda did what they did for a reason. Crank case pressure + fluid on the gear-side and fuel mix other other side, per textbook, would require the DC type and typically in hard Nitrile/NBR.

Not sure why the 45x62x11DC fork seals in the ebay link about wouldn't work. 3mm is only .110". Is there anything that mates right to the outside of the seal? There's a collar and the balancer gear, right? Is there room on the bearing-side to bury the seal that much more? I wonder if it could work?

This seal would be Parker Seal part number 45-62-08MDCN11, which translates to 45x62x8mm size, metric, DC-type, NBR material, carbon steel insert, and carbon steel springs. I sent them an email asking if its available via special order.

FYI...this is making my morning a lot more interesting. I'm sitting on a monthly 100-person conference call. lol

Yea, chucklenuts at aftershot motorspurts seals were a little salty, even when you think you are getting the right product!
I checked out your eBay link to the fork seals, they may work, 2mm wider. I didn't think to ask my supplier about a slightly thicker seal, maybe they carry a 9 or 10 mm. I will check and let you know.

Again with the chucklenuts, I'm getting the feeling that someone hosting this page (I won't name names) does not care for After Shock.

Well that's good to know

the fork seal your talking about might be ok as there is no inner lip to tap up to but if your tap the seal in to far
the seal will rub on the crank bearing

as you can see by the pics the i taped it in to far

the new one is now flush with the case

that 2mm might have to hang out

No luck on the seal with my supplier, still contacting other sources.
Anybody have one to sell me, I'm putting my Engine back together and this seal is the only hold up!

Post subject:  Re: FL350 Clutch Side Crank Seal 91203-VM0-004

No one will have the exact seal. If Parker-Hannifan seals doesn't make it and can't source it, it doesn't exist. They are the kings of seals.

Even though I took the non-work route to contacting Parker, after I got shot-down by the online catalog service peeps, their rep that calls on all our FRAM Filter stuff actually called me on my work phone. He's the regional guy who also covers our plants, so I know him. Anywho, we're going to talk about the requirements and costs of a single-cavity tool that could make 100/500/1000 seals to the right spec. Can't even say if its economically feasible. Not sure how flexible their existing tooling is to make something work, either. But its worth a shot!

Would be nice to keep a piece-price at $20 or less. Not looking to make money here, just break-even and prolong this Honda 350 powerplant. I've got two engines on buggies sitting in my dad's hay barn that I know will need new crank seals.

And YIKES on the spring winding up in the crank bearing race!! That sucks!!! Wonder if there's any type of a thin "washer" that could retain the spring if it were to fail? Something? Put the seal in closed-side-in?

close side in wouldn't change anything as there is aspring on each side.

I just ordered 2 brand new OEM seals. Had my dealership do a parts look up and they found alot still availible. They cost $12.50 plus 10 bucks shipping. I got mine from new york and the other from west va. Someone is buying these things up though. I called one place and a guy from texas bought 6. A few places I called said they just sold there last one. don't worry about finding one that will work just call your local dealership. Hope this helps.

A question that I have is, does the balancer bearing take a seal? Im kinda new to these things and im doing a rebuild and will take any advice. Im doing the exhaust bridge mod and the holes in the piston. I bought a nice bottom end off of ebay and the bearings are nice and tight. Im considering having new ones put in just to be on the safe side. any ideas on good quality bearings?

Found a few of these seals today at various dealers across the country, 12-15 dollars ea plus shipping. I found that if a dealer has any it is usually one or two, when there gone, there gone.
MFG Supply says they have one, but I think it is single lip, trying to find out.
