Post subject:  What track features does a Pilot like ?

Hi

I'm new to the Pilot world and love this site - great quality & depth of info :-) I wish I'd got involved 25 years ago !
Anyway, my question is this - if you were going to design a track/circuit for a Pilot, what obstacles would you include ? What sort of features have you found the most fun in a Pilot ? Do they love steep jumps, shallow jumps, banked corners, table top jumps, high speed stuff, low speed stuff etc, etc ? I've seen some clips on YouTube where people get them doing wheelies by going down a small dip and accelerate out the other side to get the front up in the air.
Any advice on what they like and the rough height/length of the obstacle/feature would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to work out the best places to take it out and get the best out of this awesome little machine :-) I may also have the opportunity to design a small, purpose built circuit and would like advice on what to include in the design.
Cheers

Phil,

I think a 300’ pile of sand would be good.
I’m not a big ‘track’ guy.
I have a small table top, jump, banked turns and some whoops in my field.
The Pilot doesn’t like my whoops, they are more like county fair track whoops, too steep and short for the Pilot.
If the whoops are higher than your suspension travel, you want them to have a face 1.5 times the length of the wheelbase (according to the book – I don’t have experience with this).
I would guess a couple of high speed turns where you flat track the pilot would be fun, my field doesn’t define a ‘line’ so the challenge of controlling the slide is a little lost.

I prefer sand, I have ridden hard pack trails but like sandy trails and dunes

I second that!
I grew up riding sand dunes and desert trails:()

I preferred tight winding tracks with some fast sweeping corners thrown in and jumps, pilots love to jump.
