Anyone here ride near Jawbone canyon or Dove springs?

Would like to hear about it.. where do you go? where do you stay? camp? required orv permits? anything off limits?

What are the requirements to ride there? Do you need a permit or pass, or do you just go ride?

I camp there for usually 2 weeks 4-5 times a year, usually at Dove Springs, I have a 40ft toy hauler so calling it camping is a stretch, LOL. If you are riding to California City then you need a riding permit there, its 15.00 for a year, and if you are Riding into the Rand Mountain area there is a Free permit you pick up at Jawbone station. Other than that just CA red or green stickers. You can ride 100s of miles in just about all directions, just stay on the trails unless marked open area. The dove springs/jawbone area are well marked and groomed so the oddys and pilots can be ridden at high speed, like on a road course.

I'm STUCK in Pennsylvania but I have ridden all over Southern CA over the last several years. You now have Jawbone on my radar, thanks!

It looks like the Canyon Store is a hotbed of activity with the concerts etc., haha.

I couldn't find Dove Springs but maybe my internet bad. I understand if there's not, but are there any other spots you can recommend as a safe/secure/visible spot to leave the trucks? I'll reach out to you before my next trip out.

Dove Springs OHV is what you should google, its a safe spot, I camp on LA2 trail near SC120 trail. This area is great for the little buggies, its groomed and well marked. Across HWY 14 is more rugged and better for RZRs then further east across 395 is gets more smooth. Popular camp spots are on LA1 and LA2 trails, can't go wrong there.

What a blast it looks like that would be!One day when I retire I dream of going to Cali to ride places like that or the sand dunes.Can you tell me,if I was to bring my own Pilot to Cali to ride,I'm guessing it would not be allowed,what do I have to do to get it Cali legal?

California City is a cool place to ride also. I have spent a lot of time out at El Mirage also.

if your machine has a current registration in your home state your good, if not you will need to purchase a non-resident registration for your machine, I believe that's around $50 for the year.
spark arrester are required but not enforced in the dunes, not sure about the open desert but definitely enforced in the Forrest regions. 'tis the season now, in a couple of months it will be getting pretty hot in the des.
