Mosquitos are bad (by mountian standards) or were 2 weeks back when I blew the 350 tranny. No hook-ups, but do have bathrooms(no water).

Dennis, my home is always open. I'll have a better idea of when I am off later this week. I'll call Fed and see what he is doing.

Dennis,

Just to be sure you understand. The north sand hills at Walden are just that, not real dunes. There are several trails, some up into the mountains (not two stroke or Pilot friendly), and some in and out of the sandy areas, which are Pilot friendly. There are usually several good hill climbs up from the creek onto the sand, not long, but really steep. The entire area is about 2 square miles, or maybe one fourth to one third the size of Little Sahara, Oklahoma. Up on the flat tops of the sand is where a lot of drag racing goes on, mostly quads. There may be one or two larger sand vehicles, a few dummies will bring there Jeep or truck out and most likely get stuck, but, watch out for them, as many of them are drinking.

Jerry

PS, should we tell them what is really going on?

"Whats going on" - What... What... What...

Just kidding - Sure its no big secret to me...

I figured you might want to post some "top secret" pictures of the infamous "Tiger" or specs or updates first or something....

I'm just here to keep the family intact as it aquires new members.... :-)

mosquitos - man I don't like those little pests...

PS
You know me a bad day swatting mosquitos is better than a good day at work :-) :-) :-)

Flipping thru this review I'd say the area has a lot to offer us...
http://www.dunereview.com/walden.htm

Make sure everyone brings a set of non-paddles so that we can take a few of the trails / roads up and around the mountains.
I'd say the water crossings may be our biggest obstacle....

800 acres of sand
600 acres of trails
8500 ft
and No Fees - Yeppiee

I also found this on another site:
The North Sand Hills SRMA is the only OHV sand recreation area in the State of Colorado!
It is a non-fee, primitive OHV recreation and camping area with 800 acres of dunes, and 1400 acres total within the SRMA.
The camping areas are dispersed primitive sites.
The trail system in the SRMA begins in the sand, winds through the aspen and sagebrush,
and leads both to the dunes and up into the Colorado State Forest and the US Forest Service lands to the east.
(SRMA - Special Recreation Management Area)

I also found a bit of current positive information about the area
http://www.co.blm.gov/news/2006/JacksonCtyGOCOgrant.htm

Not a huge place but looks like fun...

I only got a quick run around the dunes when I was their I just did a quick stop over to check the place out, it looked like it had plenty to explore, I suggest you do the trails too, take a camera their is plenty of snow caps to take pics of, if I go back I plan on spending more time on a quad or 3 wheeler than the Pilot, do yourself a favor and stop when you get on the gravel road leading up to the dunes and lower your tire pressure to about 25 psi, the 9000' will raise it by 10 psi as it is, then the road wont shake your rig apart,,, or just keep going and pick up the pieces when you get their hehe  I know after my first trip up that road I will be stopping next time!

Maybe I can water dart my canoe?

Lawn dart a canoe....LMAO!

The cat n mouse trails are the best thing there. Similar to LS Ok, but not near as good, but still very fun.

Gary it looks like it will just be Jerry and Me
(Ed said he may come ride for a day or so with the boys)

I'm primarially headed that way to pick up the blue drak I bought from Jerry but figured I make it a short ride trip also if possible...

I'm guessing we will only ride for a day, 2 at the most...
Once you find out your work schedule let us know if Saturday or Sunday works better for the ride for you...

I'll most likely leave here after lunch the day before the ride and crash on your couch the night before (If that doesn't cause any problems with you or your Family) and we can head out bright and early to Walden...

If something comes up and you can't make it no big deal I'll just meet Jerry somewhere and We'll hit Walden some other time...

Later
Dennis

That would correct, Ted and I are going to get another pair of twins.

The Tiger is the newest model from Drakart. It has the same size frame as a Tornado, but with less travel and with a Suzuki 750 instead of the Hayabusa. The first one is due for completion in about two weeks, hope to have some pictures then.

I figure that in Dennis' hands, 'Ol Blue will get the updating she really needs, mostly one of the true turbo engines.

Congrats Dennis on becoming the proud owner of O'l Blue. She is a pretty & dependable car that will be a very nice addition to your fleet of off road toys.

Congrates to Jerry & Ted for their new adventure by way of Drakart.
I can't wait to see these perform!

I have begun to realize that if I keep buying and selling them, I should have someone to ride with where ever I go.

I'm very excited to get into the seat of the Tiger and blast the dunes of LS regularly. I never saw the last one that I "owned" with my own two eyes, only pics, many w/ Drakman's greasy hands pointing at something he "fixed". It will be a few months before we take delivery of them, so hopefully we'll get some pics on here of them being built.

Maybe Hoser should change the site name to PilotOdysseyDrakart.com?

Congrats to everyone.

Hey Dennis, Jerry,

I am off Friday, Sat, Sun and maybe Monday too and can play when ever you guys want. You still need a ride Jerry? I will bring the 420 and the trike...you pick! I am going to put the 420 Engine back together as is. It should be fine for 10-20 more hours.

Any idea when you are coming this way Dennis? What machines are you bringing?

We are thinking of Friday.......

I don't know how much Dennis can haul, ole blue comes with a buch of spare stuff. By it's self, it should be OK, but with a Pilot, I don't know if it all will fit in his trailer.

If you have something you don't mind me riding, Dennis can come without a Pilot and be sure to have plenty of space for his return run.

I am thinking that it would be good to get to Walden early on Friday to secure a spot if we are all thinking of camping there. If you and Dennis like you could share the back of the red trailer, and I'll take the front.

The other possibility is to make your (Gary's) place headquarters and just go over to Walden to day ride. I could bring the red camp trailer and camp out at your place and pull Dennis' enclosed to Walden for the day trip or trips.

What do y'all think?

Either of those is fine with me....

I'm sure I'll have room between the Tahoe and the Trailer...

Don't feel obligated to bring the red camp trailer unless you want to stay overnight - Gary and I can also crash in my trailer if you rather just do a day ride...

Lets shoot for Friday to beat the crowds...

PS
I'll be brining my Stock FL400
