Ok Engine 2 is apart and I found the problem, part of the rod bearing cage on the big end of the rod broke off did a 2 step dance on the crown of the piston then ended up between the rotary valve and case, soon as I unbolted the intake manifold from the Engine the Engine was free and turning again.

I have 4 of these rotary valve engines, going back through my notes this one is the one that the rods 'felt' like they had the most free play on the big end, the one that has the tightest feeling rods is still on the shelf it is a newer Engine (1981) and uses a different ignition so I need to find the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) and coils that will work on it before I can use it the 4th rotary Engine I have is a type 467 and is points, it also does not have the 3 exhaust ports so don't make as much power as the type 454 I been running how ever I am running the type 454 at 7400-7600 RPM (factory setting is suppose to be 8700) I could install the type 467 and crank up the RPMs and I bet it would run as well as the type 454's I been running, I might try running it until the points get dirty and it pisses me off...

Ok 2 engines ready to get back into the ring for another swing!

The Engine on the right is the bottom end off the Engine I ran at Killpecker and some of St. Anothy until the ring on one piston went away, I installed the top end off ROTAX Engine #4 I bought off evilbay its not a Type 464 its a Type 464 and 462cc whilst a bigger bore it does not have the triple exhaust ports like my 440 and makes less power this is the Engine they use on touring sleds not their hopped up sleds like the 440 came out of (9500 Blizzard) it has like new pistons and rings, the bottom end of the type 464 has a points ignition it also had coolant in the rotary valve bottle like Dennis 670 so I assume the water pump seal is bad or like Dennis it was over heated? Either rate I will go through the bottom end and replace the crank seals and water pump seals at a later date I will also look at the mag end of the crank shaft maybe I can use my CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) ignition setup on it if so it will be a replacement crank for the ROTAX Engine #2 that lost a rod bearing at St. Anothy.

The Engine on the left is Rotax Engine #3 bought off evilbay, I took the top end off Engine #2 that died at St. Anothy and put on this bottom end, it uses the newer nipdenso CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) ignition but I am going to install the same CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) setup I have been using (Bosh) I installed new crank seals before installing the top end.

How are you other guys doing making any progress on the 350's (Nukem FED) Dennis you make any changes to the 670? ATC running again?

Here is the type 454 with the triple exhaust (red arrows) they don't look like much but they are good for another 20 hp between engines, I cant wait to see if the 464 cylinders make good torque or not.

When Fed and I are tweeking or trying new parts/mods, we use one machine as the standard drag racing. We usually make 3-4 passes to get a general feel for where its faster or slower. In my opinion, that's the best way to tell minor differences through out the power band.

Nope no changes to the 670 yet... and the ATC is still sitting partly naked as I haven't replaced her radiators yet...

Spent last week getting the boat out of storage for its 1st weekend outing...

Temps were in the mid 90's so I didn't feel much like wrenching but floating on the lake with a cold one was "the ticket"...

Looks like temps at LS are around 100 - to hot for my taste...
St Anthony is mid 70's - perfect to bad its so damn far....

Looks like watersports until it cools off for me...

PS
Did the video of the tow in on CSI 2 turn out ?

Yeah the video did come out I didnt watch whole thing, its on tape 7 I think I will watch the tapes and only capture stuff I think is good to send to Fed heck rate I am going it will take me 28 DVD's to put all the raw data on DVD and send.

Stoneman sniped me another set of radiators so I think I am going to add another like your 670 setup to my Pilot to reduce the fan run time Evilbay Item number: 4649837642
