Why is Craftsman tools made in China now?

I went to my local Sears store today looking for a 5/8 socket. While there I saw a nice Craftsman wrench set for $19.88. I came home and got the approval from my wife to make the purchase. I went back out made the purchase brought it back home and took the wrenches out of there case, flipped them over and seen stamped on the back "CHINA" along with some numbers. I was devastated. I had bragged to my wife for weeks about Craftsman and how they were American made. I also went off for hours on why I would only by Craftsman over other brands. What happened to Craftsman being made in the USA. Also because it was made in China, should I be worried about its durability? I know a lot of my appliances and what not is made in places like China and Taiwan, its just that I am a US soldier and I like buying my tools made in the US. I guess its a sense of knowing a fellow american made it right here in the states. Please help me understand this!!!
Rex

I found this out about a year ago when I went to exchange some sockets and screwdrivers... I told the manager that this is the last time I'll be in sears buying anything based on this very fact of corporate profits come before made in America. It gets harder everyday to find tools made in the USA but can be done.

What pisses me off the most is we spent TRILLIONS of TAX PAYER dollars to "fight Communism " and communist countries in the biggest and longest war we ever had (the cold war) now all the same people who spent trillions of our money are the same who are in bed with the COMMUNIST.

You hear phrases like "unions = communism " yet never hear the same people say anything about imports from china other than "its capitalism" that because the same people are about their profits unions take away from their profits, they are the same people slamming noboma about no job creation yet want to export jobs, funny how the weak and stupid cant see these people for what they really are and jump on ideas spoon fed to them like unions are bad haha.

FYI I used the union thing because its quick and simple example their are hundreds of other examples most can be easily identified by watching shows like The Daily Show they point out these back stabbing, lying hypocrites on almost every show :-)

I have had Craftsman tools for so long I seldom buy anything new so was totally blindsided they were not being made in the USA, wonder if the corporate tax Sears pays will be used to pay for the welfare and food stamp increases of if they pay taxes like GE does, wish I made enough money I could avoid paying taxes all together or could use deductions to pay like a 5% tax rate like most the complainers do lol

Now when I need a tool I will start here http://www.stillmadeinusa.com/

Made in the USA = someone still working and not on the welfare/food stamp list.
