Post subject:  Choosing an Oil for Two-cycle Engines

http://www.ultralighthomepage.com/OIL/oil.html

Not sure if I would use the Pennzoil in my 2 stroke engines the ultralight engines usually, generally run at what I call a steady state or constant RPM and at slightly lower RPMs than our engines, our Engine RPMs for the most part is all over the place and constantly varies and runs at peak RPM briefly, look at the article at the viewpoint of liquid cooled VS air cooled oil demands.

I found the article informative and like most other similar articles not all inclusive.

I attached a PDF version of the article in the link so when it becomes missing as many do it will be preserved here.

Very informative.
I also like Pennzoil but it's not available here on the shelf in my area,
so I run the Castrol two stroke at 50/1 with no issues so far.
I have to agree with the post that choosing the correct oil is real important.
Years ago when I was racing cars Redline came out with a new "shock proof" oil, we bought some
for the gearbox. I never made it one race and I melted the gearbox. It cost me $5500 usa to fix it.
When we drained the oil it was full of bubbles and stank like burned piss. Then we were told by another racer it was only for low HP cars. I got suckered by the advertising. A mechanic at the Ferrari dealership in Tacoma told me in the 1970's when he was a mechanic on the F1 team every salesman came to them and sold them the latest crap, they lost more races than you could count. They finally told them all to hit the road, we will call you if we want it. They started winning.

Redlines claim to fame was like many others morons on the internet bragging up their products with NO verifiable facts to back up what they spew, don't you think the mfg would have verifiable facts to present to its customers?

If I had new oil products and thought they were better than others I would invite independent oil testing companies to test my products then give a unbiased opinion I would let my better ideas stand for themselves, this never happens because they are snake oil salesman.

They instead give a bunch of their products to advertisers (magazines and TV shows) who has never had any oil related problems then solved a repeated oil related problem with the donated oil products, in return in the near future you see that new product advertisers are advertising these new miracle products, YES they are charging a fee for the advertising.

Its all a game very little honesty is involved they prey on the gullible and the stupid.
