 Well that's defiantly not my cup of tea. lol.. I was never one for the flares maybe the car has rusty rockers & wheel wells so this was their idea of a "fix".

I did a 68 RS a few years back that had been flared I assume to cover up all the rust in the fenders. It looked like the flares were made out of a 55 gallon drum and were thick enough to total a Sherman tank if it hit them. lol.. The car been dead since '79 & honestly I was shocked how rusty it was for it's short time on the road.

For some it should be illegal to own a cutting wheel and welder!

Small update..

It's a running driving car... well at least in the yard anyway.. :-) Wrapped up all the brackets & pulleys etc.. & got the front fenders back on. Put a new set of 215x65 15 Cooper Cobra tires on the Rally s front & back. I ordered a new factory fan shroud and it showed up today but still waiting on the bracket that holds it to the radiator support so as soon as it shows up the car should be finished under the hood. I still need to clean up & paint the headlight mounting brackets and then I can start installing the grill. I painted the bumper brackets today so I should be able to get the new front bumper on it tomorrow. I put a new windshield in my 68 SSRS when I restored it and saved the old windshield, so I'll likely dig it out & put it in this car since it was still in good condition. I would like to buy a set of the correct 67 center caps for the wheels and a few small odds & ends but for the most part aside from the headliner and seats the car is very close to being completed. My daughter is pretty excited since I promised her she could daily drive it until it sells.. :-)

I'm thinking 29500.00 & I'll see if there is any interest in it? I have a guy here in town that has been over to see it a couple times through out the build and he says he wants it, but who knows if he will actually follow through?

I am going to need to buy a new windshield the old glass out of my 68 got broken while I had it stored, a box of crap fell against it. :(

Installed the grill & bumper today, I'm not happy at all with the fit of the repro grill & bezals, typical over priced Taiwan crap.

Ah man, that sucks that the grill and trim don't fit good. I used to love putting them in and seeing a nice consistent gap.

Good luck on the sale.

Thank you. It seems like this Taiwan crap gets a little worse every year, or it could be I'm just getting a little more cranky. lol.. Either way, I'm still very thankful to have it available or there would be no way to give a turd like this a 2nd chance at life. NOS GM parts are WAY out of reach for a little guy like me & even if I could afford them, what a waste it would be to use them on a car like this. :-)

Installed a new windshield, & trim as well new rocker moldings.. Just need to get some new wiper blades & I'll install the wiper arms. Also got the front wheel well trim installed after the picture was taken.

Finished up everything under the hood aside from a new battery.. The Lighting harness was secured after I took the pictures so it is no longer hanging under the radiator support or drooping on the inner fender well.

I Installed the headliner today. I struggle a bit doing headliners and ended up with a few small wrinkles but I bet it will tighten up a bit more with some heat..

I am tied up most of the day tomorrow so I wont get to work on it but with any luck at all I should be able to wrap up the interior next week. Pretty much all that's left, is too lay down the carpet, install the rear panels, install the new seat buns & covers on the seats and I need to paint the glove compartment door still. Should be able to start driving the car soon assuming the weather holds out. :-)

Update..

I finished up the interior and my daughter has been driving the car. The first thing I needed to do upon driving it for the first time was swap out the rear end. The original 3.08 rear end that came with the car howled like a "blue hair" on a heater with the penny slots. My choices were simple, replace the ring & pinion along with all the bearings or take the cheep route and swap in a good 2.73 rear end I had in my hoard. I went with option 2. :-) The next issue that will be addressed is the Poly leif spring bushings are coming back out. Just as Bullnerd said they are noisy as hell. I have tried to re grease them, but I still cant get them to quit squeaking every time the damn body flexes pulling into a driveway, not too mention they make the back of car ride terrible. I have a new set of factory bushings ordered for the car to replace the Poly.

The Crate 350 runs well but I can describe the performance of the car with this small formula.. Stock 350 + 2.73 gears = "Gutless Wonder" .There will be no worries of street racing tickets in this car. lol.. The Flowmaster exhaust is louder than I personally care for at my old age but I will leave it unless it will cost me a sale. All in all the car turned out pretty well for budget 6 month build. I want to put about a 1000 miles or so on to work out any issues that might pop up and then it's time to let her go..

Looks fantastic!
Yeah, poly's a no go for me, anywhere anytime.
First thing I thought of when you said 273, perfect! LOL.
Although, I had 273s in mine for a while with a pretty decent 327, top speed was....I don't know, it never got there! LOL.

Thank you sir.
It runs good for what it is but my daily 68 makes another 100 hp over this car and the Yellow SSRS probably another 250, so drive either of them and then get into this car, it's VERY noticeable & this thing feels like a slug. I really should have done a cam change in it before dropping it in, but not a big deal I guess, that will give the owner something to do. I agree, the 2.73's are really nice on the highway, the car darn near idles down the road @ 75. :-)
