I bought a used 102c clutch off ebay a few years ago. I got it installed with no problems but could not get it to engage the belt. I got really frustated with it so I didn't work on it for years. Just got back to it recently and still the same problem. Clutch will not grab the belt. My belt is new and the rest of my FL350 is stock. On the original auction, the clutch came with purple springs. When it arrived, it had yellow springs. I asked the seller why the difference and he told me that the yellow ones would work better for a stock FL350. After some research here recently, it seems like the pink springs are better for a stock FL350. Can someone shed some light on this for me? Could it be the driven clutch that's not working? And does anyone have some springs to sell or trade? I would also consider trading the 102 for a 94 just to get this thing to work right.

The color of the spring indicates at what RPM the clutch engages. There is a chart that tells the color and the rpm.

The driven clutch will not spin until the drive comes together and engages the belt.

There are also weights that go on each puck which allows you to tune the clutch. also the spring can be changed for tuning.

It took you years to get back to it you must have been pissed. There are a lot of good guys here that know a lot more about the fl350 and a 102c then me. I'm sure you can get ti going.

I assume your Engine is running properly turning the clutch at the proper rpm.

If it had a purple in the auction then you received a yellow - that tells me the seller must have changed it. Perhaps he did not get it back together properly. The first thing I would try is compressing the clutch plates by hand to see if they are free to move. Also pictures are a plus.

I'm sure fl350 guys will chime in soon and correct me if i told you anything wrong. I'm a pilot owner but the drive system are almost the same as the fl350.

1.) Your driven clutch should not effect the crankcase clutch activation unless the driven clutch is stuck in the high gear mode. How well does the belt fit around the rear driven clutch? It should actually protrude slightly from the rear clutch almost looking like the belt is a bit too big. If the rear driven clutch is spread apart at idle then it is bound up.

2.) Does the forward clutch close at all when the rpms are raised significantly? If not it is binding.

Do some searching of the site, there are a few write ups for spring color identification.

I would suggest starting the ody in neutral and have someone rev the Engine up and take a video of the clutch so we can see if it is actually moving, or if the movable face is stuck. Please post a link to the video on this thread.

If the clutch is shifting and moving the belt, perhaps your moon key in the secondary clutch is broken or sheared off? The secondary clutch will rotate and shift, but it is spinning freely on the top shaft of the trans.

Lets start with a video please.

Search around the web for a chart that includes the cam weights and spring color combo, as both can change the stall on the clutch. I had this chart at one point, but can't find it anywhere. Pretty sure it was on mfgsupply.com someplace.
