I did a search and I didn't see any info on refinishing fenders.

The fenders on my oddy are decent, I had to sew up the front ones, but just cracks, no pieces missing. They are looking a bit weathered and old. I was thinking either sanding them a bit then painting them white.

My question is this
has anyone tried to put the vinyl sheeting over the fenders?

Something like this
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/3M-1080-Scotchpr ... 7f&vxp=mtr" ."..

The paint would work, but this would also cover the sewn parts as well. I am just not sure how well it would hold up to the flexing the fenders do

Any thoughts / comments?

they use the same stuff on dirt bike/ATV plastic so no reason it wouldn't work. if you try it make sure and post up the results. I used plastic renew on my pilot side panels and was not all that impressed

I am going to see if I can get a local supplier for the 3m film and what the cost would be. I think it is worth a shot if it is not too expensive. The fenders are not that big, so I don't think I will need a whole lot.
A bonus is I can do this inside the house this winter. Painting would have to wait till its warmer out in spring.

Ill take pictures as I do it.

Hello. If your fenders are stitched together i would go with paint. The 3m film works best on smooth/flat surfaces. The stitches/zip ties would prevent the film from adhering on that area. The plastic Honda used for the fenders is petroleum based and inherently slick making it hard for paint to adhere. Hopefully sanding and using a good primer will help with that. Not sure if u saw it but posted pics of my Pilot tub with the 3m film applied. So far it still looks great.

I did see the pictures of your Tub, it looks good. Was that the sheet stuff, or was that the clear spray on stuff?
I was not planning to do the tub, just wash it up and maybe put on a bit of wax. I had hoped that with the sheet vinyl I could cover the stitching and make it a little less noticeable.
i am still up in the air on which way to go. I might just order enough for the back fenders and see how it looks. I think they will be easier to cover then the fronts, and they have very little stitching ( about 3 inches to be done on the back part)
