I saw this odyssey for sale locally and I was wondering if this one a home made job or a aftermarket job for rear suspension.
Thanks

Only one he gave me. 400 bucks for 2. One is a rolling chassis the other one is torn apart for a restore. I was curious about it being a dual shock set up.

Looks like they cut and hinged the stock frame and added some old motorcycle fork shocks. So the whole Engine & gearbox & axle float on that rear section.

Did you or the seller sit in it? Just wondering how stiff those shocks are, and wonder if it drooped with a driver in the seat. Wondering why they needed 2 identical shocks per side.

More pics would tell if it were done with pieces of structural steel (angle, channel, etc) by someone, or if it were more complicated as if manufactured.

He has pictures of it out and about. But no one sitting in it. It appeared to be a set of shocks on both sides of the frame. Image Image

Your going to have to take better pics than that I really cant see any of the suspension other than the two shocks.

You have the advantage you have already seen this thing in person so you already have a picture of what it is in your head, were looking at blurry dark pictures we cant see none of the details you already have in your brain and and interpret bad pictures using whats in your memory.. :-)

These are just the pictures that the guy had posted in the ad. I just passed on it being I think it is a hack job. Could have parted it out for more but I just bought a house so a little more important things.

Offer him $300 cash. Not bad at all for two complete FL250's.

Remember...generally people don't sell perfect condition stuff for CHEAP just to be nice. ;)

Try to figure out what both buggies need with $'s as the priority...
...engines & gearboxes turn freely?
...engines need total rebuild (crank, main bearings, etc)?
...got carbs?
...got clutches, and they aren't rusted stuck?
...need bore/piston kit?
...steering wheel levers move freely?
...has all the electronics?
...tires hold air, don't have rot/cracks, etc?
...wheels bent?

Then figure out if its in your budget to take on the projects, and compare the total cost to what you could pick-up a completely running buggy.

Any suspension on a FL250 is a night and day improvement, I have rode a few home built rear suspension 250's that had only like 4" travel and it was HUGE difference over riding the stock hard tail, at 300 bux if it turned out not to be that good of a project you could part it out and make money for your 300R ?

Tell us more about your 300R ?

Yeah I was thinking about that. Just don't have the time or space to part it out. My 300r. Well I traded a guy a atc 70 with a 110 pitbike motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) in it. Thinking it was a trashed 250r. Posted some pics online found out it was a 300r with a dg one piece pipe. Ported and polished head. Well I decided I was going to turn it into a flat tracker. So I bought some old school parts. Mossbarger Reeds. Fl350 intake 36mm TMX mikuni. Bills pipe with answer silencer. Calfab +3 Swwingarm, Durablue +4 Axle, Terry cable front forks. Bought a frame with a title also. Just heard the custom white plastics we ordered from maier are shipped. Should be a fun toy.

Good luck keeping the front end down even with the 250 Engine the front was always in the air, I bought a 1983 ATC250R new and picked up a used 300R top end and installed.

Nice I like the molding that you did. That is pretty cool. Yeah your telling me. I rode it a few times before I tore it down. My lord 5th gear and pulling up is an adrenaline rush for sure. Kind of a reason I am putting the +3 on the back lol trying to tame the beast and keep more on the ground!

I had a FL250 for a winter and would always be sore after riding it. The 350 with full suspension and a better seat that is a non-issue.
