I run a Rands water cooled head on my Fl350 with the Bosch heater core pump used by Mercedes and a radiator fan adapted from a Honda CBR 1100 all controlled by an in-line thermostat switch which turns on both fan and pump whenever the the H2O temp reaches 180 degrees F. I have been running this set up for over 2 years without incident and have ridden my 350 for over 3hrs non-stop in 90+ degree summer days. I strongly suggest soldering your connections to avoid them coming loose. Congrats on your project.

Yup that's exactly what I ended up doing the only difference is I am not running a fan or thermostat.
If it don't work well enough for me I will put on a fan. I am running a Honda Civic alum rad.

I run the thermostat to avoid having the pump run all the time since its electric unlike the Engine driven one on my Pilot. The fan really isn't necessary but its extra cooling insurance. :-)

Have you already had a chance to heat cycle it yet? If so what water temps are you getting and surface temps? Thanks Billy

Engine is still on originaI recall cilynder bore of 78.5 mm so its never been bored. I don't have a water temp probe installed . The thermostat cycles the fan and pump to maintain water temp between 170 and 180 farenheit.

Hey C'oddy, just a comment on your spare belt placement, I would think holding the ends with that tight radius would not be to good for the belt

Pilot spare belt was kept by the shifter inside the drivers compartment did the FL350 have a spare belt holder?

Yes I did warm it up but it's cold up here right now.
The head was less than skin temp and wouldn't rise.
The next day I warmed it and took it for a spin down the street. Barely skin temp. But it is winter right now. The real test will be in july or aug running up some logging road in the mountains.

Yeah I forgot you were in Canada. But it is very cold down here, 24 this morning and in the low 40's for the day. That is cold for us in Bama. just wondering how it was working. The tig at work died on the water cooling pump went out and fried the hot wire so I haven't got to work on mine in a couple of days. I got another one in today so maybe I will get to install it and the torch and all in the morning. Thanks Billy

Hey c'oddy i keep my spare belt on my fl350 tie wrapped to the cage under the roof-that way it takes an oval shape and is out of the way. Just a suggestion.
