Hi guys
First post here but thought I might say great site for Info and inspirations.

The reason for the rebuild is not for me but for my family and G/kids so when I do something it's usually to the extreme so I have ordered all I need to bring this back to life.

After the purchase and the removal of the black foam I found the head roll bars and roll frame were bent with some of the 1 1/4 tube being squashed so I've replace the frame with 1 1/4 chromoly and added some side protection.

I've stripped down completed the repairs including sandblasting...etched primed for two pack paint.

Story of this 250 is that it was given as a Christmas gift in 84 to and eleven yr old and at the age of 16 he became estranged from his father and it sat in a farm shed/barn until the 11yr old and at the age of 41 and became the sole benefactor of his fathers will I believe...saddened because he found the 250 outside.

Yeah I seen lots of those up north when I worked at Fort Mac oil sands. I worked on the Syncrude site building a new mine. The CAT 797 I think. The things are fn huge. Just imagine a building with wheels. During safety orientation they showed a video of one running over a pickup. It didn't even slow down one mph and it looked like a truck going over a speed bump LOL.

I was working for Keiwit, an American company. Syncrude is a tar sands site.

I recon your right...kinda hate the thought of it in the hands the Grandkids now. So I might leave it 99.9% complete :-)

The only real problem I had with the rebuild was the seat pan but after a bit of thought we cut the complete bottom out of it and replaced it all...to look at it you can't tell the difference.

The Maier fender color is so far from the original I couldn't leave it like that so they are now Sting Red.

Would love to change the rims to an aluminum or a chrome setting including setting up a wider stance at the front.

Yeah I think that's going to be a nice machine but it might end up being a trailer queen.
I highly recommend that when done you take it for a high speed run and roll it like my brother and I have done to our 350's. Then you won't be afraid anymore and let the kids have a go.
