Tank works with the trans and axles there wouldn't be much point in putting a tank there if it didn't. I Used to modify the stock tank to fit with the rotax Engine but its too much hassle to send the tanks back and forth and then some people don't send the tank back so I made this tank. This tank is basically the same as the stock tank but with the mods to work with the rotax. I like this setup for the odyssey with the tank in the stock location and the rad off the rear down tubes, it makes a nice clean install.

that's a good angle of it! looked a lot bigger in the other pics. would be interesting to see if a stock Engine set up would fit with that tank. what is the capacity of that tank?

Emmanual,
You need to finish the long travel rear!

Try not to drool, I originally stretched the frame 6 inches but I found it too long so I shortened it back so now its only 3 inchs longer than stock. Rear suspension has 10 inches of travel

I didn't have them installed in the pics but all the roll cage mounts are doubled up using both bolts

You got great fab skills for sure. Personally I would rather weld everything. Any test ride reports. Need video different angles and views.

Very nice work and I think it looks good a little bit longer. If the rear suspension mount was welded to the cage, it would probably be very difficult to work on / remove the Engine if needed. How much wider are the front and rear wheel width? It looks very aggressive from the front view :-) Can't wait to see a video of this thing ripping!

So that Engine is a non rave 582. I have one but haven't put it in yet.

Trying not to drool over all the cnc equipment in that shop. Is that work, or a playground? :-)

Yes the Engine is a 582 no rave valves, the only difference between the 582 and 583 is the rave valves, they have the same crank and pistons, so if you have a 582 and down the road you want more power you can throw a 583 top end on and way you go, well you have to change the exhaust and rv plate as well, I run 40mm carbs on the 582 and it goes better than with the stock 38mm carbs. Ive been really busy, but have gotten the rear end finalized finally. The axles I used were off my rzr 900xp, the front ones, axles are too long so the first time I shortend them and welded them up but didn't take too long and I snapped one off so I made billet ones out 4340 ht, its nice to have a gear hobber in the shop. I used the rzr rear shocks as well, spring rate is too stiff though but that's not a big deal, I cut the interior splines on the wheel hubs with a shaping attachment on a knee mill. The spline was wire cut into the trans shaft and was much more cost effective that way. I used Yamaha bws calipers in the rear with a custom caliper bracket, ill put some more pics up soon

Manny, I am not a Rotax knowledgeable guy, but I was under the impression that the 582 has a dual ignition set up, as the ultra light guys run them?

The ultras do use a backup system with two plugs per cylinder.
The sled engines do not and are easier to find and are far less expensive in my experience.
Rotax... My preferred Engine.
I also did the swap as described... I had a 582 that I swapped cylinders on for the rave system (583) and also made another pipe for my Pilot, It woke the Engine right up...

go oddy is right on the money with the 582, 582's are a cheaper to buy than the 583, I think most people would be happy with a 470 or a 500 if they were able to test drive one before doing a conversion but I cant give them away, what I do now is put the 470 engines in the leftover sled bodies and run them for the winter

it took 3 weeks from the bare frame to a driver, working on it 7 days a week pretty much full time and then 3 months to finalize details

Wow, looks great! I recall when i first finished my pilot - full frame up resto, was clean enough to eat on. Then i took it out and it came back looking like the pics here. It was awesome. Then i took the next 3 (or so) hours cleaning it to get it back to the way it started. Possible OCD issues.
Congrats on a great looking machine.

Dave
