How long does it take Works Performance to call you back when sending in shocks for service? I sent mine off 2 weeks ago.

Is that a custom frame? I haven't seen a FL250 with suspension like that. Can't wait to see the finished product. It already looks just like the reference picture you posted. I really like this restoration & great work so far!

Yes custom frame. This was a class 3 car. It raced in the open modified odyssey class in the early 80's. It's a part of odyssey racing history.

Challenger made cars kind of like this. I believe Hoser had one of the challenger cars.

Had a few tabs from original radiator mounts. Used them to derect a it to radiator. My head is in front of radiator some. So i thought this may help. Also made heat shield fir silencer pipe?

Yay or nay? Opinions please?

I was having some cooling issues. I mounted up a scoop and the results were well worth the effort.

It runs much cooler now. Small things make a big difference, a radiator/fan shroud at times makes or breaks a cooling system.

Shrouds on left and right side will have a big cooling effect.

I would loose the the shield between the silencer and the radiator. With the shield in place it will inhibit air flow through the radiator. Since the pipe is on the back side of the radiator and looks to be spaced around three inches away from it, the radiant heat from it shouldn't make that much difference in cooling.

Agreed, but if you really want a silence heat shield.
I would make one and conforms to the shape of silencer (rounded) and that sits a about a 1/4 inch from the silencer's surface. That would provide plenty of shielding and allow for increase cooling air flow around the radiator.

I agree, a rounded heat shield would be a lot better than none at all. One other thing you want to look at is getting the silencer insulated from the frame. As it is now, the heat from the exhaust will be conducted through the silencers mount on the frame and into the radiator.

I see you have another possible issue that will cause your exhaust mounting brackets to break off from the expansion chamber. You have the expansion chamber rigidly mounted to the frame. This will not allow the pipe to flex with the Engine and will cause the bracket on the expansion chamber to break off in short order. You should also have the silencer mounted on a flexible mount of some kind. An FL250 Engine vibrates and moves a lot when it is in its lower rpm ranges.

Look at the 2 exhaust mounting studs for an FL250 and you will see what I mean for a flexible mount.

there is rubber bushings in all the eye hole hole mounts. I will get better pics later. They have rubber bushing with metal bushing kind of like shock. I will have to check if any metal to metal. Heat shield is coming off.

To body? Or not to body?? And the last pic. Should I fill in last slot? Or leave in open so body goes to a point? Boxy or point?

I figure that front tire will pelt you with sand and water. Will use insulated cable clamps of pipe size to mount body.

Anyway opinions on the body.

I think the body looks great! I say fill the last slot, I think it looks good a boxy. I was thinking about doing something like this for my FL350. It looks like you used aluminum? What thinness did you end up going with? Also, nice work on the gas tank. Looks like you made that custom also.

Not sure of the gauge. It thin enough to fold it.

I did not make the tank. The buggy was built in early 80's to race in the fl250 odyssey open modified class 3 races.

Starting mounting body panels. Used cable clamps as you can see. Also got a pair shocks from 90's sled. Not sure if I like the look of the body with the clamps. Gonna keep going. I can always take it off. I use sprinkler hose the line theppanels. I thought it cleaned it up some.

Still waiting on seat cover. Add radiator hoses and ready to fire.

Just hoping these shocks work.

Got the body on. Kind of like the look of the bolts to. What you think? I got shorter bolts I will add now that's it's all sucked up. Just need seat cover and some race gas I guess.

any tips on thermo siphon? Like how to get all the air out of sytem? What's running hot with a two stroke? I have digital heat gun.

Some pics.

You don't need to worry about getting the air out of the system, it will work it's way out naturally.

With a water cooled cylinder and head I would run a water pump of some kind. Thermosiphon works well for just the head alone but I have never seen it done with cylinder and head. Who knows..... I may be full of crap.

If you decide to go with a water pump, you will want an on/off switch in line for the pump or some kind of thermostat because that thing will be cold blooded as hell without it.
