Next I ground the inch thick bondo off & straightened the beat to death tail panel, also fixed the the trunk lock area where some dip $hit ripped the trunk lock out. Truth be told, If I had it to do over again I would just replace the tail panel and saved myself a few hours of spewing obscenities.. :-)

Next laid down some Epoxy primer over any bare metal showing and then followed up with 2 wet coats of 2K..

Beautiful job MrRat!

Not too many cars can compete with the fine curves a 67!

Thank you.
That would be fun but I'm likely just going to do the 350/350 combo in this one.

A little more progress..

Cleaned and painted the rear mono leafs and installed some poly urethane bushings...
Image

Opened up the grease ball rear end and gave it a once over. Had to drill out a broken bolt on the cover but other than that it all looked good after it was cleaned up. I'll stick a pinion seal in it before I put the car is on the road.

Back under the car..

Moved onto the subframe..
Image

Torn down & blasted..

Image

The control arms were beat to death so opted to go with Tubular arms, also ditched the manual steering for a 3 turn lock to lock box I had in my hoard.
Image

ditched the drum brakes and installed a new Disc brake set up from The Right Stuff.

While I was waiting on suspension parts to show up I tackled the deck lid. It had about 96 holes drilled into it all in the wrong spot to mount the rear spoiler..

Image

I took the deck lid down to the original paint & welded them all up and started from scratch, then shot 2 coats of 2K and a guide coat on it..

Image

Installed the subframe with some new Poly subframe bushings and got her back on 4 wheels..

Lookin good!

I used the same box, back then the trick ones came in the late model trans ams.

I'm not a fan of poly though. Used it once on a 78 bronco, never again! Squeaky a$$ shit!

BTW you can drill the front leaf mount holes higher for anti squat! LOL. I remember doing it, don't remember the results.

Thank you for the kind words guys.

I greased the leif spring bushings pretty good when I was assembling them, so hopefully no squeaks. The front control arms have grease zerks on the bushings so I'm guessing they should be easy to maintain should they start to make noise, but this is the first set I have installed so I cant really say. I personally prefer the look of the factory control arms on these cars but they were just too hammered to use in good conscience.

Thank you guys.

Fully,
Sure.. :-) I built a 55 F100 with a 4V 351 Cleveland & C6 about 25 years ago and was building a 56 F100 right before I bought my first Odyssey & sold it. I've always really likes those old trucks, do you have any pictures of yours?

A little more progress..

Rebuilt all the hinges & staightened the beat to death Passenger side door..

Image

Image

I swapped the driver side door for another I had in my hoard. The original was broke down by the lower hinge. It can be repaired but since I already had a better door I just went with it.

Image

Next I started mocking up the front end to check for fit..

Image

Everything looks like it fits pretty good so I took both front fenders down to the original paint and fixed any damage including the antenna hole that had been filled with a rag and bondo. I welded up the RS turn signal holes in the lower valance so I didn't have to buy a non RS valance. The passenger side fender had been replaced somewhere down the line with a fender from an RS so also removed the RS head light bracket and fabbed a bracket to fit the non RS head light housing. The fenders are now ruffed in with all the emblem holes drilled.

Image

It's a little closer, & I'm hoping I can start shooting the shinny stuff sometime in September. I picked up the Base Coat last week, Marina Blue and Vail White for the D91 Stripe. :-)
