I did some looking online tonight and the Pilot transmission bearings are a hard find.
These guys show item #17 but it is only 9mm wide. That’s ok just make a spacer
https://www.bearingsrus.co.uk/bearings/ ... 007-c3-skf
These guys show item #16 but it seems to be back ordered as it says available in 7 days time.
https://www.123bearing.com/bearing-B40-TIMKEN.php
Hummmmm I don’t know but it’s worth dropping a dime.
Maybe someone else here knows where to get these parts and can chime in.

Its been a while since I looked at the details, but isn't it better to get the thicker bearing and face the collar on the shaft down so the thicker bearing fits? I would think goin thinner would introduce a weaker bearing.

Yes I would agree.
I was just thinking outside the box if a guy didn't want to do machining.
I think the turn down the shaft thing has been done before but there was some kind of issue as I remember. Not sure.

I kinda remember someone doing it also, but cant find anything.

I recall the OEM bearing being 17mm and the aftermarket was 19mm thick, so you are only looking at removing 2mm.

I ordered everything that was available at service Honda, just took the trans over to bearings and drives, they had no issues with part numbers for the remaining seals and bearings, they will be tracking them down and call me with pricing.
I will be adding a bearing to the out side of the driven clutch like the brigs cars so this should be almost equal to doubling the bearing, only it will be a sealed/greased bearing but that is another story.
I'll let you know if I get all of the Honda designed bearings and seals, I figure 30 years is a good run, someone knew what they were doing when they built this thing.
I can't get over how tough the gears are, the bearing cage was ground up into tiny pieces but the gears all looked in great shape.

so just a quick start to the story, I have to get back to work,
the pilot has a 670 sled Engine so I'm guessing that may have had something to do with the failure, it's putting nearly 2x the torque into the trany.
pictures and more to follow....

So as not to ef up my back pulling the Engine and trans I bought an Engine puller from HF, 2 ton capacity may be a little over kill but better than jacking my back more than it already is.
Engine out, lets work on pulling the axles while the tranny is held nicely in the frame, Ha, easier said than done, after trying for some hours on the left side, that is the only side I could get a good grip, I gave up and decided I'll try the right side. the right side came out easy, pry bar popped it right out, now all I need to do is punch out the left side now that there is easy access. That was the thought, after some more hours of trying to hammer it out decided to pull the trans with the axle. Tranny out and supported with a couple of saw horses, now I can really get at it. after more hours with a BFH, you guessed it, not budging. this was also adding some PB blaster, now I need some patients, not my strong suit but ok, filled it with the PB blaster and let it sit for several days, go at it fresh with a sledge hammer, that's got to do something, wrong again.
Plan B take it to work and use a 12 ton press on it, success :-) , I was either going to break something or it was going to come out, it came out.next battle was splitting the trany case, I'll just say it was a little stuck but I won that battle.
Next challenge, pulling the brake rotor hub, all I can say is that was tight all the way to the end, not sure how I will get it back on, it took a puller rated for 7 ton and I was torqueing the screw with an 8" w3rench with everything I had, used PB Blaster heat, it all came down to brute force I'm surprised the hub did not break or bend.

I've been there, not as bad as what you had to deal with.

How do the splines on the inside of the final look?

If you replace the cir-clips make sure you get the right size - I believe there are 2 different diameters of wire used.

Old man Honda built one hell of a gearbox!

Splines appear to be in good condition.

I am pretty sure it was "just fur fun's" fault. He looks guilty.
