2 of the head bolts on my power washer broke off flush with the mating surface of the pumphead. I pulled the head thinking I would drill them and use an easy out to remove them. I center punched the bolts and started drilling a 1/8 inch hole, but the bolts are loose enough that they turn when I try to drill the hole. Any suggestions on how to remove the two bolts, they will clearly come out very easy if I can get something to bite into the bolt.

Use a left handed drill bit, or weld a nut on them, or work it with a pick/small screwdriver.

left handed drill bit or a regular bit backwards or use a chisel and hammer to mark a flat head screwdriver slot

You don't need a pressure washer. I never seen your pilot dirty.

I'm faster then dirt....if it cant catch me it cant stick to the pilot......DP in Dec is on my calender

Thanks to all for the tips on the bolt removal, I think I'll hunt down a left handed drill bit and give it a shot.

I saw those screw removal thingy's at Sear today, $29 for a set of 3. They looked like a good idea if you have a screw that had a rounded out head but cant see how they would work for a broken bolt.

Here is some actual dirt on my pilot....

I got them out last night. I just ran the screws down till they bottomed out and then drilled the hole in the bolt for the easy out.

I do have a nice recommendation for everyones tool box. I bought a set to bolt extractors from Sear, not the normal spiral type easy outs, these were square shank with a "grip"on each corner. The worked better then any easy out I have ever used. Probably been around for years but I had never seen them before, worked great for me. I think they were $12 for a set of 5 or 6
