Hoser is likely to get a kick out of this one. I installed a water tank in my project hauler truck. Today I was getting ready to run down and meet Ted and Eddy, so I filled it.

Duh, some one should have told the engineer on this job to install an overflow/relief on it.

Kaboom....sounded like a gun shot when it blew, blew the front of the cabinet off, what you see here is half disassembled when I realized Hoser was going to want pictures.

WOW that sux, I installed a vent/over flow on mine, I need to revamp my vent, right now it just points towards the ground, when the tank is full as you accelerate water will flow out, I need to run the pipe above the top of the tank and then down so it can still vent and act as a over flow, mine is setup where I screw a hose on and when I see water coming out the vent/over flow I stop filling.

How many gallons was the tank you installed?

16 gallons, looking at how distended it was, I would guess that i had closer to 20 when it blew.

Remember that aluminum tank you were going to come and get some day? Well, that is what I am going to use now, so you can save the trip, would have cost a grand in fuel anyway, so I am saving you money by keeping it.

Actually as I was filling it, I had the faucets open, plan was that it will fill everything including the water heater and then flow out the faucets, all I can guess is that the inline water pump created enough back pressure that it blew the tank.
