I've just put my odyssey back together after a few years of storage. I put one of these Mikuni fuel pumps on it, and I'm having problems with it. Pressure tested the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) and the pulse hose that runs the pump, and all is good. Running a plastic T with main jet in return line. If I am out just putting around it runs great. But If I am in the sand running hard and a lot of WOT (Wide Open Throttle) it can't seem to keep up, and will actually cut out. I know its a fuel problem as I am running clear fuel line and can see the line is empty when it quits. If I let it sit even a couple minutes it is good to go for another few minutes, does it both with the fuel tap in either on or res. I am running a generic inline filter on the suction side. I wish I could buy a new stock pump! Is there a better model of generic pump available? thanks
Mike

Have you tried running it with the return completely plugged?

If the carb doesn't overflow at high rpms that may fix your problem.

The stock pump is much better in my opinion, but they are twice the price.

Are you running one of those tiny generic fuel filters? You may need a larger filter with more surface area to allow higher flow through.

Found the problem today. I cleaned out the tank best I could, but I guess after riding it around for a few days it stirred some loose rust/dirt up. you couldn't see it with your bare eye that the filter was dirty, but when I pulled it off and blew it out backwards into a pan, there was tons of small rust bits in it! Drained the tank and pulled a little more sediment out and put on a new filter, and all seems well again.

You should KREEM the tank if its rusty.
