this guy said he can sleeve the cylinder and bore it ready to run for $240 does that sound fair?

Does that include a piston? He can't properly bore a cylinder for an aftermarket piston without having a piston in hand. I have in the past paid $300 (8yrs ago) for the sleeve to be installed, bored, complete piston kit with top end gaskets. Sleeves are usually in the area of $100 plus the labor to install. The $240 doesn't seem terrible with todays labor rates.

Have you checked with LA sleeve?

Guy talks a good game.

Any negative comments on his sleeve work?

The last one, and only one, I did was also a 350 jug with a busted sleeve. I had a local machine shop do it. Total was right around $300 and I had to buy the piston on top of that. I bought a 80MM weisco, first bore 350 piston Weisco makes. I didn't realize at that time that I could have used the first 3 Art/Honda piston bores 78.5,79, 79.5 MM, with an Ebay original bore Honda jug. Point is that you may be wasting a few bores by going directly to 80MM piston. Also, boring big alone on a 350 does not make big power..., intake, carb, exhaust, clutching, and porting does(2 strokes in general). You can pick 350 jugs up on ebay for around $50 generally. I have heard that some Honda rings are no longer manufactured or in stock, but am not sure of that. Sorry, starting to ramble on,

Gary

I would think that the sleeve size is set at the stock bore, I have never got one though.

once you sleeve it you still need to bore it to fit the piston, then hone it, so you need to have the piston in hand

Ok here is a question how much will I really save after shipping the Crank out to be repaired and shipping the cylinder out to be resleeved over just ordering all the parts new from Service Honda? what would all of you do?

New Crank from Service Honda 366.22
New Cylinder from Service Honda 313.17

If you buy new while they are still available, then you will have the worn out parts to repair later on if needed. How long will these new parts be around? You are not saving a ton of money by fixing what you have.

King KX is right

Crank is a judgement call, I rebuild mine when I can. say about $140. in parts and $30.-50. in labor, so $200. or there abouts, you should be able to find a local decent guy, PM me if you have trouble.

Cylinder, I would just buy new until there are no more.

One advantage of new crank is it will be nice and tight. Once "H" measures up the bearing surfaces that should help with that decesion on crank rebuild. One advantage of new cylinder is You or "H" get to port to Your or His liking instead of first matching up exhingting cylinder on resleave. Either way degreeing it in will need to be done for max effency. If your old cylinder is to your liking then sleave it, if not start fresh and new. Remebr the new Honda cylinder comes one size fits all. So using a stock honda piston also one size fits all. Both cylinder and piston will need to be matched up to you liking on tolerences, watch those end gaps. "H" can hone it to your liking on that. I know "H:" already disaembled I hope he got to get base line degree #'s if was not in to bad of shape. Spare motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )), old would be ok. For replacemnet motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) new would be better. that's how I would look at it. Either way when "H" is done I bet it would be nicely done. Whats you choice on head and CC's that should be considered on cylinder choice incase it's been ported and had exhaust port raised. This will effect the CR of the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )). I would have "H" clean up new sleave and bore so LA sleave don't try to match up alignment and change the porting. Just my two cents.

If you go new sleeve you want to go with new Honda piston not a wiseco, I assume you will have to buy the piston and send it with the cylinder? I would also tell them you want the piston to cylinder clearance at .0031 for the Honda piston.

Good advise "H", bore to minium clearence then hone if necessary according to end gap and camp. Stock Honda piston highly recomended with fresh stock bore. I have a sleave if you would like pics and port #'s
