Here is the run-down of the race from how I saw it.

The guys who already raced this year got to start on the front row, a 30 second head start. But that is okay, because that means they have to beat us by 30 seconds. So it is me, my wife Abby, brother Roy (on PilotGuys beat up Pilot), Stoneman and Stoneboy (Max) on the second row. I warned Roy how bad Stoneman and Max beat us on the holeshot in Indy. Roy came up with a plan to start way on the outside then cut the inside turn tight and hope that Stoneman and Max push to the outside. I really did not have a plan other than to pay attention and try to have a faster thumb reaction. I think that is what happened. As soon as I got a 7 foot jump on Max, I cut in front of him. I ended up getting the holeshot and Roy's plan worked as he pulled in behind me.

I lead second row starters into lap 1. Not far into the race, we come up on Terri in a big open straight-away and she is sideaways from a spinout. I think most of us get around her then head into the woods and rocks. As we approach the one rock hurdle, PilotGuy is high centered and spinning his wheels. Instead of leaving him hanging on the rock and going around him, I bump him off and he is now leading the second row guys.

We follow into a nice race when we catch the others trying to get around a tight turn in the woods. When we exit the woods, there is a wide mudhole with about 6 different options to take. All options were do-able but some were faster than others. At this point, it seemed like every Pilot in the race was right there at that mudhole. It was the most exciting part of the race, not knowing who was going to come out ahead. I fall in behind Mikey only to find that he needs to hit reverse 20 feet into it. At this point, my position falls to about 6th at best.

Before we get to the uphill at the end of the lap, Roy is leading, then PilotGuy then Max (or Stoneman) then me in 4th. I manage to get up to 3rd by making it through the tight turns ahead of Max just two turns before the finish line checkpoint. I follow Roy and Guy into lap 2 with Max just behind me. As we approach the rock obstacle, I am hoping one of them get hung again. And it happens to Roy this time. The problem is that PilotGuy was not wise enough to remember to hang back so he could go around. Instead, he waits for Roy to get free. Big mistake on his part and he needs to be removed from the trophies for that idiot move.

We continue on lap 2 and I can barely keep Pilotguy in site. I clearly see that PilotGuy and Roy are taking the rocks too hard. Once we get out of the woods, I see Pilotguy take a wrong turn. The trail was marked well but he was following Roy. It is their own fault, as this was the SECOND lap. I hit the trail now thinking I have Roy and possibly Hare in front of me.

I continue on my own ride until I stop for fresh goggles at the end of lap 4. My pit guy tells me that I am in the lead and that Roy and Guy had to stop for tires.

Race over. that's the race as I remember it. I could be wrong. I had a camera on but it caked with mud on the first 100 yards.

Seems like the promoter has now accepted the Pilot class as a real class. They are giving us Series Points and there will be series awards issued if we go to the banquet at the end of the year.

I really have no influence on the the Promoter. I think by the Pilot class often being the second biggest class of the race, it helps a great deal. Now we just need to get some more racers to show up to keep it from dying. Team Dooey and Hare are the heartbeat. Good to see the Stoneman and Max make a long trip for the race in PA. Hopefully we can get some new guys who will give Hare a good run in OH. An ody with the right set up could be the ticket. We have never had one at a GNCC yet.

I am friends with the trophy supplier but I did not even know a Pilot was going to be on the plaque. just sucks that it had to be PilotGuy. At least he had on my borrowed wheels and it was a Pilot he bought off me a few months ago.

Here is the artwork, pretty cool.

What can I say I was wet and happy.

Terri was happy yesterday, she recieved a box with Trackside written all over it, nice tape btw, and inside was a beautiful picture of Pilotguy5!! Now wormally I would take offence to strange men sending her pictures but since this one had a pilot and was for 8th place at Somerset I'll let this one slide. Thanks again John

That is John Dains (Trackside) showing off Stoneman's coveted Holeshot award (as if 1st place wasn't enough for him) which won by Trackside in a stock pilot and the other is Mad Max showing off his prized Golden Crapper for his driving like he stole it style and attitude.

Nice Swag Stoneman, what are you doing for the next one?

They only have a Pilot class when they have a UTV class, and they only have UTV classes at 6 of the events. But there was only 4 UTV events last year, so maybe they will keep increasing it each year.

6 of them is hard enough to pull off. Just think if they add Flordia or had a 10 or 12 race series, Arrrggg!

Unadilla would be fun, In and out of the gravity cavity then down the screw you, that loamy dirt would suck some power.

Some of the tracks cant handle the UTVs size...

and how could I not mention the picture of our one and only PilotGuy posing next to his image on my 2nd place trophy, I will say he photographs well.

and of course the idiot smiling with the #1 plate is me, what can I say, I like it, it makes me smiling just thinking about it now.

I don't think anybody has the carbon fiber wheels. hyper gave me a discount but didnt recommend those wheels, I havent gotten any yet, probably will try a set after this next GNCC. The offset not being right worries me.

Ok in all the tire carnage, how did weeds carbon fiber wheels hold up ? Awesome pictures by the way, love reading about these races.

I have the hiper wheels but I retired from GNCC racing, they work well I did crack a beadlock in one of the races but I believe the stock wheel or aluminum wold have bent I hit a tree a ton, the nice thing about the Hiper wheel is you can buy all the parts to fix them front half, rear half, or beadlock.

sweet do you have the fronts and rears hipers? if so what do they measure outside to outside, as in overall width of the pilot with the rims and tires mounted on the pilot?

Hiper told me free replacement for a year
