I found this dirt cheap in AZ... A trucker traded me some stuff for it, so I need to see if anyone has any gps files I can download into it and se if this works as a good unit... I got it mounted today, and will test out this weekend at my whiplash race!

Garmin is very draconian on their map files. The serial # of the unit has to match the basemap file or it wont let it load. They do this so peeps cant load someone elses files on a unit that didnt pay for the update. You can however load someones trip log onto it in .gpx format. For example I go on a ride and then send you the data you can load it into your GPS and see where i went. Go to the Garmin website and register the unit in your name then hook it to your PC and you can upload software updates for free, but any map files you will have to pay for, and the website will let you know what map updates are available.

Yea I was looking for shared files... to see some of the race courses and stuff like that! I seen the hundred dollar topo files they have... not really interested in doing that yet till I see it in action first...

I'd put a tether on that.
My Garmin can fall out of its holder in the car.

I agree w Mass... mine has popped off the ball in the car... What does that say about Mass and I as drivers???
I would epoxy that ball to the back of the unit... and install wing nuts to the wheel (for quick removal and charging needs) for Nav removal... unless u have a looooonnnngggg charging cord....
It does look good there though... and beats my use of the Nav... I took mine and placed it into a backpack at my feet to see what kind of speed I could get out of the Ody... LMAO
Regards

I have all kinds of GPX files but its not going to do you any good unless your at that riding place I guess you can scroll around and look at it.

Try this link http://connect.garmin.com/activities?cid=994169 it has a bunch of my GPX files I think you can download them I have not figured out the whole deal yet on how to use this you can help me be my test dummy.

When you go to that link it will probably ask you for a login and password go create an account log in then try the link again.

Let me know if you can see my files.

Also try this link http://connect.garmin.com/activity/36262248
