This one looks like its been rode pretty hard, very dirty n greasy. Lots of build up in the exhaust spigot too, must have been rich...or too cold of a plug. looks like the water pump plastic wheels are busted..uh oh! The adjustible timing hole(like the Beastie) is there but has been taped shut. I was told this Engine was 75 or 85 HP on race fuel. Here is some pics...

sure is you can see where they welded up the factory coolant inlets (green arrows) and straightened out the spark plug (blue arrows) what are the bosses on the head for (green arrows)? temp gauge?
if i ran these engines I think I would take the mechanical pump off and run a electric one.

Thought it was a 500 head.
I figured at least one of the extra ports was for temp reading hard telling what the other was for, put that on the list of questions to ask lol
Wonder if this is one of them 410cc engines Renni was telling me about back in 97, CR500 bore really short stroke = 410cc

they might of had problems with air at one time and used one of ports to let the air out.
im really interested in the carb and intake setups what is the advantage with them? slickrick has the a similar setup on his Briggs car.
From what I am told,they can run at any angle, even upside down because they don't use a bowl n floats. They are supposed to be super easy to tune too. There are two big twist knobs, one up high n one down low...high one adjusts high speed jetting and the low, low speed jetting. I have the 38mm version and the 44mm race version with the violet high velocity stack. I have manuals for both kinds n jets out the wazzu. Should be fun!

I did find a gallon baggie full of more carb manuals,lil, parts, spacers,diaphrams, etc. I have not opened it up yet.
I like the carbs, had been told and have read that for our use they can easily be lean in the mid range and its hard to tune the mid range, I never had that problem but mine is on the rich side and almost as rich as you like to run your stuff.
I got lucky and mine runs ok with the jetting that came with the carb, its off a 580 seadoo water craft and was installed on a 440 ROTAX it could be leaned out but I didnt have any jets to fit it so never messed with it maybe next time we ride I will try a few of your jets see how much better it will run.
I noticed a Glamis it leaned out and ran really well because of the dry air, you seen it run at Killpecker.
The hi lo speed adjusters on the side of the carb are sensitive you only want to turn them very little then ride it test, the low you turn just enough to say you moved it then allow the Engine to idle at least 30 seconds then look for a change it does not change as fast as a regular carb.
My first test run with this setup soon as I went WOT (Wide Open Throttle) the Engine would die, turns out the hi speed screw was turned in too far and it was like it shut the gas off turned it out 1/2 turn and it want great at WOT (Wide Open Throttle), the screws are real touchy.
I never messed with or checked the pop off pressure they talk about, you get any tools with the jets?
My advice would be when testing is to proceed as you would normally with any carb just pay close attention to the mid range jetting until your all setup, I.E. don't run long distances holding it at 1/2 throttle without watching the EGT hate to find out what others said about lean midrange was true lol
I went and opened up the bag...lots of goodies! must be 20 new sets of reed pedals,fiberglass and carbon fiber...for 4,6,8 pedal systems. Not to mention all the other stuff.
You sure that was me, I didnt remember crashing! LMAO That was 120 feet of air, 275 back to the desert floor and on the wheels! Fired it right back up, and went back upthe dune...still waiting for someone to top that! Would have been a better video from the side view(and someone else doing it). lol
Gotcha, I'll check the mid real close. Yup, there is a black baggie of carb tools in there too.
