This is the spacer that goes between the two bearings in the rear knuckle. the rear axle outside end goes through the bearings and nut goes on the end of the axle and gets tightened - putting pressure on the inner bearing races - this spacer keeps the inner bearing race spacered at the correct distance so there are not unwanted forces applied to the bearings when the nut is tightened.

If the bearings lockup and spin inside the knuckle it can damage this spacer - so when you replace the bearings and if the spacer is damaged the new bearings may wearout prematurely due the damaged spacer not spacing properly.

Do you need one - Honda no longer sells them, If you plan on keeping your pilot until you die like i do, you will eventually need two, Even if I do not need one I will buy it anyway as speed took the time to machine a discontinued part and offer it to the group -I want to support part replacement as much as i can.

Part #1 in diagram Hope this helps.

Right on rmesser, NOT to sound like a saleman for Speedchaser this is a must own for any Pilot owner, I have had the rear axle bearings fail two times on me both times damage was done to the distance spacer Speedchaser made for us.

After every ride trip part of my post ride trip inspection is to jack up the Pilot get all 4 tires off the ground and check the wheel bearings for play, both times this inspection has failed me on the rear bearings I have come to the conclusion with the axle installed you just can feel a bearing going bad.

By time you feel something wrong while driving, the rear tire feels loose, its too late most the time the distance spacer is damaged and needs replaced, so if you never trash one where you going to get one, thanks to Speedchaser I will have two in my spare parts box.

If you install new bearings and use the old spacer and the old spacer is damaged where its length has changed the new bearings will NOT LAST long because they are being crushed when you tighten the big nut that holds it all together putting excess side loads on the bearings.

Again not trying to sound like a salesman but having at least one of these spacers in your spare parts box is a must.

even when the spacer is not damaged it wears over time, i replaced mine every other bearing job on my dirt bikes. when the spacer wears smaller it makes the wheel bearings push inward on the inside race causing them to wear out much faster.

I'll take two sets if you would be able to offer shipping to the UK.

Thanks,
