I will try dropping down to a 145 main jet and moving the needle clip back up. The exhaust set up has not changed since I aquired it. The DG and the Blingy Ebay silencer ran fine without issue before. I had to modify the DG pipe to get the factory style silencer to work. so I cant put the DG silencer back on it. I could try running with nothing, but my neighbors would for sure have the cops on my ass in no time.

It is not overly smoking at WOT (Wide Open Throttle) right now. I started with a 155 jet and it was smoking at WOT (Wide Open Throttle) and the plug was wet. The 150 the smoke is much less.

I will try the reverse safety switch mod. YES I know about what this means as far as starting the Ody. That is why I never did it as I have a tendency to leave it in gear when I shut it off and get out of it.

How did you make out with this Nelly? was it the neutral safety switch?
Also the RIGID LED lights did you purchase the spots or the floods please?
Dunno what areas you plan on riding in but perhaps I can convince you to go back to stock air box and intake by chance? You will be thankful in the long run. All those particles that pass through that K&N WILL MAKE THAT SLIDE grooved badly, causing more carb issues then you have already. I understand the box is a pain in the arse which it is but it helps so so much in proper filtration and clean air to that carb.

Even starting it in gear it should never move. Unless you have your idle set stupidly high. I always for get to take mine out of gear when I stop. And usually leave it running get out so wife or bother or someone can get in an go for a ride.

Unfortunately I have not had the time or drive to look into the issues. I asked hoser if he would be willing to get it running right for me and he graciously accepted. I dropped the Ody off to him yesterday morning. With in a few hours he got back to me saying the switch in the rear had a wire broken off of it. He says this can make the Ody run limited in forward just like it is suppose to in reverse. He said he would be checking over the jetting today on it. I hope that is all it was. We should know more sometime today.

As for the Rigid LEDs, I actually went with one of each. These put out way more light then the stockers, I figured 2 of the same may be overkill. So I bought 1 flood, and 1 spot. I wired them so that the low beam is the flood and the high beam is the spot. I can actually set the hi/low switch in the middle and have them both on at the same time if I wish. I haven't had any good night runs with it yet, so I may end up changing how I have it now to low=flood and hi=flood and spot if I find my self trying to run with both on a lot.

As for the filter, I would really like to keep this intake on it. I plan to ad a uni filter to it as well. From what I have experienced and heard from others, this intake really does make a big difference in power output. Being a fairly big dude (6 foot 240lbs) I need all the help I can get. Most of my riding will be trail type stuff anyways. I may hit the up the dunes once a year.

Looks like I may have to go this route. No big deal. I should know more later today.

The wire broken off the switch on the trans seems to be the problem, soldered it back on not sure how long it will last everything designed to support the wires on the swich are broken their is a strain relief plastic piece that supports the wires under the rubber boot, both are damaged, my suggestion would be to bypass the switch as mention before.

Switched to the 142 main found rust in the cap of the float bowl this is like a sump pit where the main jet draws its fuel from, your filter is not doing it job time for another filter, I looked close at the filter it looks like its just a screen inside?

Is the Honda filter still available if so I suggest you get the Honda filter they will filter out this small stuff if you cant get the OEM filter I suggest a AC Delco inline filter with the paper element they will stop this fine stuff from getting into the carb.

Ran it about 10 min with the 142 jet went back to the 150 when I pulled the cap to change the jet same thing in 10 short minutes their was rust in the cap again.

This micro abrasive will be drawn into your Engine and cause unnecessary wear as well as foul up your carb.

The reason I went to the 142 main was to see if it helped the bog you have when you hold it wide open from a standing start it does not you will have to recalibrate the drive clutch is engaging too soon and shifting out too fast the Engine cant build up enough RPMs to get into the power band.

Ok I will pick up a new filter. I don't believe the factory is available any more. I think I remember seeing a thread on here somewhere where someone found a replacement.

If you think it is best to bypass that switch, lets just go ahead and do it. I am fine with that.

I will do some investagating on the clutch issue. I unfortunately do not have any extra clutch parts, but if all I need is a spring, I am sure I can find one.

The one in the first picture on that page looks like a pleated paper element to me yours looks like just a plastic screen inside I will look again.

You need a filter that is proven to capture the fine rust dust your current filter is passing I have never tried the Fram filters to see if they will do it or not.

Found this searching they list 10 different HONDA part numbers, you need a real HONDA filter not a after market filter..

You have any HONDA anything dealers around you, take them the 10 numbers see if they can get one, auto dealer, ATV dealer, power equipment dealer, marine dealer, make sure they understand you want a HONDA filter not a after market.

Yep I have a power sports dealer 5 min from me. I will stop in there tomorrow after work and see what I can get.

The NAPA filter works fine, I use it in all my 350's. Is the tank the issue Hoser?

I don't think you need a Honda filter. Just because it says Honda doesn't make it the best. I believe mine is also a napa filter.

The filter you have installed is not doing its job regardless of the make model brand cost looks etc. I looked at it again with a flashlight and I cant see the paper filter inside what I think I see is just a clear plastic fine mesh screen will know for sure once its removed, I see no reason to remove it without having a replacement in hand first.

I suggest the HONDA filter only because I have proven over and over again the HONDA filter for a Pilot will filter out the exact same crap I see in your carb at this point I ASSume all HONDA made filters are the same quality I would suggest you install the Pilot filter but I doubt you can make it fit.

If you have a filter that will filter out the fine dust that is like powder I am finding in your carb then please use it.

Before I installed my 440 Engine in my Pilot and built my own gas tank I had this same problem with my OEM tank for years, the HONDA filter would plug up with rust just like I am seeing in your carb, you remove the filter shake it up pour out the contents into a bowl let the gas evaporate and dry out a few days and you had rust that was like baby powder and what ever dirt you introduced with your dirty gas cans and while normally filling up with gas.

I discovered you don't need to change the filter on the Pilot just clean it by filling with carb cleaner shake it up dump it out until its clean reinstall, I made it part of my annual maintenance to remove and clean the filter.

Using the HONDA filter under these conditions I never found any dirt or rust in my carb the ONLY other fuel filter I have seen capture particles this small is the AC DELCO filters they were ARE the only filters that will keep the rust and dirt out of the carb on my 72 GMC pickup truck the FRAM and WIX inline filters passed enough to plug the AC filter in the carb so I switched to the AC inline filter the filter in the carb remains clean, have about 60k miles fuel filter testing on this truck over 30+ years.

I think Mud and Fully, where just stating that the Napa filter may be a usable alternative if I cant locate a Honda one. I have no problem going with a Honda filter as long as I can find one.

I did some research on the 10 part numbers you gave me. They are actually 5 different part numbers just with and with out the dashes. The 16900-658-004 is a completely different shape and style. The 16900-634-000 and the 16900-538-014 are both a different shape and not sure if it would mount in the same location. The 16900-538-004 is an old part number which was replaced by 16900-538-024 (which happens to be the only part number remaining on the list). This filter looks to be an exact match (shape and size wise) to the factory FL350 filter. This is a fuel filter for late 70's Civic and also some marine applications. So I guess I will have to try and hit up the Honda car dealer parts to find this one.

I'll let you know what I come up with.

Looks like that part number is also used as a updated # for the FL250 fuel filter. Anyone know if the 250 and 350 filters were the same? The 350 filter # listed is completely different, NLA, and like 3-4 times the cost. Wonder if maybe the flow rate is different?

Went ahead and ordered 2 of the 16900-538-024. Nobody local that I was able to get a hold of had it in stock. My local Honda dealer said they had some in their warehouse and they would have them there by 7am tomorrow morning. I'll pick them up and let you know if they are what I hope they are.
