With the Redline Revolt now out of business wouldn't it be time for LIEwire to go out for business with his Drakart jigs and pick up the slack, maybe he is buying the Redline jigs too?

The Formula cross was already a production machine all you have to do is build it and try not to impose too many of your stupid ideas on it lmao.

But really do you have the Formula Cross jigs piled up against the Genesis jigs you bought and was going to build? More info on the Genesis car viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2332&start=0

Well its 2013 where is the Drakart

Why buy the 'rights' and jigs to build the Formula cross then never build it

You would think now that Redline is out of business he would start selling Drakart Formula crosses be a nitch market and low volume but would fill a market that is until word got on the street what a shady piece of shit LIEwire actually is then his sales would go into the toilet lmao

Other than ME is anybody else surprised that this adventure has turned out like this?

Found this posting just yesterday on the topic, I was surfing looking for inofrmation on new toy:
Posted by chucklenuts at aftershot motorspurts Motorsports on a internet forum:

Hawk Motorsports bought out the fixtures, molds etc and the rights to build the Drakart Formula Cross and Drakart Extreme. Later Hawk Motorsports closed. The tangible assets were purchased by chucklenuts at aftershot motorspurts Motorsports.

Hawk changed the Engine in the Formula Cross from the 600 Rotax to the Arctic Cat 660 Turbo. The lower RPM range of that Engine complimented the gearing of the FNR box better. Customer desire for taller tires over the 20" then 22" made the final gearing too high with the high revving 2 stroke. Even though the advertised horsepower of the 600 and the 660 Turbo are both 110 HP, the 600 did not really make that. In addition, low end torque is higher with the 660T. That combined with the better gearing makes it pull out of the hole noticeably faster. Gearing can be improved further for racing by changing the driven clutch to the larger one from an Arctic Cat Bear Cat. You can change the waste gate spring to bump up horse power. I would research Arctic Cat forums for more info. I believe you can get it to around 150 HP with just a spring change and other things, stock fuel pump, stock injectors, etc. I have also heard people are getting 220 out of it with an aftermarket ECU and likely other mods.

We are not building them yet. There were a few pieces needed to build the cars that did not come with what was purchased. There are also a few changes that I am making. With the bad economy, it is not a good time to be investing the money required to put them back into production. We have mainly been focused back on the Odyssey and Pilot parts for now. Right now, people are hesitant to buy a new toy, but still like to keep their current ones going.

Well it's now 2015, what year/decade did chucklenuts at aftershot motorspurts buy the Hawke rights?

I think Steve must have sold all the ready made stuff that he got trying to recoup his costs because he has nothing of real need to a current Drakart owner and he isn't making any replacement parts either.

I can understand one changing their mind and not wanting to build buggies it takes a special talent to fabricate/ market/ sell and deal with customers then their is the huge intrusion into your private life that can not be avoided. IMO it would not be a good investment and I think the outcome proves my thoughts about a adventure like this at the time it was for sale was correct, Drakarts was a really small niche market but we knew this after seeing the FL350 and FL400 sales, the Drakart sales up to the date of this sale were marginal at best, Redline buggies a fresh look into this market appealing to what customers wanted most at this time, 4 stroke, EFI engines, Redline also demonstrated what sales would be like in the future for any small single seat buggy. I doubt we will ever see another small buggy with sales like the FL250 had.

It would be nice to see someone revive the Drakart Formula Cross and the Drakart Sport and I wish them good luck, apparently Alain Fricker and Hawk got away from them for a good reason perhaps Liewire came to his senses before production.

Or his attorney may have simply talked him out of production given the liabilities involved. Without a pretty stiff boilerplate insurance and liability protection portfolio, it wouldn't take much to thwart a company into submission. Back in the FL350/400 days, I don't think society had quite the same level of both "morons" and "hair-trigger liberals" (one in the same) we do now. I've seen father/son home improvement gigs go under over ONE a$$hole customer who tried to dodge paying their tab with legal threats.

And how does someone compete in the same market space as mega-sized multi-faceted corporations like Polaris, Yamaha, Kawasaki? Marketing power? Warranty support? Economies of scale? History in market? Engineering know-how? Web-power? Granted, the redline/drakart style of buggy is a niche market. But you still have to convince someone to choose your rig over another. I could see if the chief of Polaris buggy engineering left the corp to start his own niche deal, or Robby Gordon, etc but....some regular dude just buying a brand and some parts doesn't mean/do anything to/for me. Protodie makes buggies, but they're low volume and custom-built-to-order (I wouldn't even call it niche), plus he's proven his work on the dunes & trail.

Not knocking the guy personally, but really what did Steve/L!vewire do to add any value to the brand or the design/performance? He merely bought it because it was something he loved & wanted to perpetuate, price was right, timing was right, etc. Who effing knows, right?
