So far the last weekend in September (23-25th) seems to be the least objectionable date.

Sept 25 is kind of objection-able but do-able as well, if the groups sways either way I am fine with it, but i would rather be in Unadilla NY.

Maybe 2nd or 3rd weekend in October would be better, the leaves should be near peak around about then, might make a PA ride harder to do before hunting season.

I'm in for either date but I must admit I like the drive to Unadilla better.

i guess they are both about the same for me, it more depends on which weekend Leo picks for his Fall cycle ride, would be nice to have it the same weekend to consolidate the party.

I may be seeing Leo this weekend if so I will see what he says.

Can I throw out a suggestion?? Would there be any interest in holding this year's Fall ECJ at Hatfield-McCoy in WV?

I've been dying to ride HM and this might be a great opportunity. We'd probably get a pretty good turnout (not that we've ever had a bad turnout at ECJ) because HM is a bit more "centrally" located.

I would be game to do H-M, we would have to get special permission for the pilots(should be no problem). Dates would be critical on my end.

At H-M I would be riding the bike a good bit, and would rather to do a Wed Thrus Fri Sat thing to keep down on crowds as much as possible or maybe get one of the 3 day passes and cut a day on either end.

We also could have it at the central PA spot, much more central for many or even NJ, NY if someone has a place or suggestion.

Hare - why the preference for 2 wheels over 4 at H-M? Are the trails better suited for bikes??

This is just an opinion and an outdated one at that (i haven't been to H-M for a while now) but yes i feel H-M is better on a bike or quad and better for the advanced user. Same with Coal Creek (we shouldn't count that place out either), good for experienced riders but begineers, kids kind of need to be led around as some of the trails can be tough.

Anybody know if they let you ride around the parking lots or have easy trails near the parking areas at H-M ( or CC).

Don't get me wrong H-M is a GREAT place, but you get more bang for your buck on something with a longer range say 60 miles or so, with the limited fuel range, and no trail fueling, we would end up doing the 5 miles close to the parking area, over and over again.

Plus there is a bit of traffic on the trails close by the parking lot so you can't really fly on the pilots without risk until you get further out.

Not that West MD is any different, and same with PA, we have to set fuel out for the epic adventures I just know my way around those spot so its easy for me, only difference is basically no rules to follow, no money, PA is bigger and some risks, MD is smaller and far away.

What about SL?

Anybody been to NJORV lately? any better? any cheaper?

I am down for different suggestions spots, anybody?? I could care less whether we call it ECJ or Gayfest 2005 or where it is, I just want to ride a very full weekend with a few other pilots that are ready to take flight.

A 10-12 hour drive is about the max i would do for a 4 day trip

hey hare
i have not been to njorvp since like january - but it was like 70 dollars a day and they only let me drive my sport on 1 track -which now from updates they send me they changed the track and reversed the direction-
as far as the trails go my kawasaki brute just makes it through the trails it is tight and i had scraped trees on both sides at the same time so i can see why they wont let the sport out there
to tell you the truth about the fall and spring rides i like going to the wolfs den
the locals are great - i finaly sort of know how to get there with out calling 911
and it just seems like a good spot, in as there are no cops or rangers to hassle you and as long as everyone uses common sense we have fun and we leave in good standing with mr brady
that's just my 2 cents
as far as dates go arlene has her octoberwomen (ELIZABETH DI BELLA) foundation on friday october 28th it is 275.00 a ticket if any body wants to meet the cast of the sopranos also it is black tie so it starts to get expensive but it is for a good cause and if it was not for the DI BELLAS arlene would not be here with us today
so due to the costs involved that we have to lay out - they usaully have a 50 - 50 raffle ($25,000) and that is 100 dollars a ticket and arlene winds up buying what ever she gets to sell between 5 -10 of them
because she doesnt want to have the winner and had sold it to someone else - last year judy told her she was going to be carefull on how many arlene gets this year -i think she will let her pre sell them then give her the tickets so she doesnt get arlene into bankruptsy
any way as long as it is not the weekend of the event i would like to use up the rest of my fee i paid out at the spring to ride because i look at it this way its allready paid for and gas is going to be a killer where ever we go and you know arlene will want to get some supplys to help out and if its some where else she might not even go - and she will just send me with a bag of chips
so there it is i will watch this post and see what happens
hope to cya
tripp

At the risk or sounding like a complete pansy, I do like the idea of a riding area that has lodging (like Hatfeild McCoy). It may be nice for everyone if there is a place to stay. I may be able to secure lodgine at Paragon if anyone is interested, but I know that trails there can be a bit rocky. Let me know if you fellas want me to look into it.

Definately check it out!!

I would do our PA ride spot over Paragon or Tower City Trail Riders pay spots, I do like a room as well, hence the MH, plus theres not many safe, outlaw camp spots up that way. We do have friends in the area we could impose on.

I see two sides to the camp / hotel thing

Hotel is nice. Shower after riding is mandatory. I do like a throne over shitting in the woods. Riding starts shortly after meet time

Camping makes it more social. Fire is fun. Drinking and eating dramatically increases. Riding may or may not start.

Its a tough call :-)

I'll look into then. I have a friend that owns a camper in the 8 Bee's camp ground (Think that is the name). The campground connects directly to Paragon, you just ride out of the campsite and into paragon. He told me once that there are campers and bugalows there for rent. I will see what I can do about getting few ajoining camp areas with campers/bungalows and let you know.

haven't had much luck with the lodging at Paragon. The 8 bee's camp ground is a private CG and they aren't very fond of outsiders renting places (really tight group of owners). It would be great since we could ride right into Paragon from the site. I'll keep working on it.

I have a hook on my end to get into the campground but i couldn't invite many people, if any at all. $10. a night and get to ride too, it is the deal.

If i was up that way (Paragon) I would much rather ride the coal hills for the day than Paragon.
When we went Paragon there was only one decent play area and the main road the rest was rocky trails from hell, I would much perfer Paragon on bikes.

Up PA i vote for outlaw ride, no speed limit or rules, free and no where near the amount of rocks of Paragon

So as it stands for Fall ECJ we are still West Maryland bound with 2nd or 3rd week of October as my pick, Fall colors should be at there peak.

lets get some feedback
