bought a cool head a long time ago, bought new house moved and now puttin it on.so its been a while and my memory is fuzzy. what should i do about the preheat tube coming from the carb? can i just plug it? like with a bolt and a hose clamp?

you could just unplug it from the carb. it does not necessarily have to be plugged, but dirt and crap can get into the preheat part of the carb if it isnt plugged. You can get a vaccume line cap from an auto parts store to cap them off if you feel the need

thanks. looked like there is a second hose coming from the carb below it(at least it looked that way lastnight in my dark garage) should i assume its the out for the preheat and unplug it also?

i think you could leave that one on, and just cap the 2 nipples on the carb that face up. Id blow the water out of the carb so it does not just sit in there though. I think that bottom tube just connects one side of the carb to the other.

well the hose has gota b capped out of the carb, as soon as i filled my radiator it all poored out of my carb.

Unhook the hose that runs from the radiator to the carb and plug it somewhere out of the way. This makes jetting your carb much easier, not having to deal with the stupid coolant running through it. You don't need to even worry about the barbs on the carb, just leave them open, it wont hurt anything to have dirt in them since you arent using them.
